The day after??
Hi
I urgently need to know if I will be able to drive the day or two after my uplift/BA..... I am required to do a little work, will only be walking around and sitting but need to drive a little. Would I be able to do this???
Or will I be in too much discomfort I should just rest??
Thanks girls!

Re: The day after??
I had unders and don't think I could have driven within a couple of days - even with power steering I found it hard to move the car at slow speeds like getting in and out of parking spaces - I waited a week, but that was partly due to snow anyway. Are you having unders or overs? Also not sure how soon you are allowed to drive after a GA - you may not be insured. xx

Re: The day after??
i had over and waited 6 days b4 driving, i only drove then as it was the xmas period and o/h decided to drink instead of drive!! but i can honestly say the short journey i did (about 10 mins) made me want to be sick.
i then left it another couple of days, just as i didnt need to drive and when i started again, i found i had real troubles in my leftie. . . guessing due to gearstick/ handbreak.
hope this helps, i thought i was quite a hardy person when it came to pain etc but this got me.
everyone is differnt but if you can i would try to rest as much as poss.
xx

Re: The day after??
The info I have just recieved says no driving for 5 days as the GA can invalidate your insurance, so I would not risk it either xx

Re: The day after??
I had to wait for seven days pet - but I did sneak out to the shops 5 mins away on day 5 as I really needed to do a little bit of food shopping. I found it OK except for gear shifting (especially pulling the gear stick back for reversing and I found I needed to do that with both hands). So I would think I just wouldn't have been able to manage it before then.

I had uplift/BA and was not allowed to drive for 3 weeks! Even after 3 weeks I could feel the strain! x

Re: The day after??
I had a an uplift and unders and I waited 10 days to drive and it was hard then I really didnt feel good to drive until about 3 weeks... Driving takes more upper body strength especially chest muscles than we realize and after having unders and a lift you will not have the strength to steer or shift. Do u have a friend or family member who cant chauffer you around perhaps? x

Thank you for posting...
I had not even thought of driving being something Id hve to worry about post BA, thankfully i work from home for some of what i do, but ill need to ensure my son has rides to hockey when my husband is at work... i drive automatic, how long will it be until im comfortable driving, i dont have to shift.,

Re: The day after??
Well you can't drive for a certain number of days as (at least here in the UK) your insurance is invalidated for several days after a GA - I was told 7 days but other have been told only 3 or 4 days. This is to allow the GA to be completely eliminated from your body.
After that, it depends on how light the steering is I suppose.
