Re: breast band
Hi hunnie, I was told to wear it fairly tight so that there is a reasonable force acting to push the top portion of the boobs downwards.
You wear it so the it covers the very top portion of your boobies and this will help them to drop into the correct position.

Re: breast band
now i'm sure i'm not quite getting this but. . . . have ALL of us that has had a BA had it because they either didnt have boobies or gravity has taken them too far south. so i wounder why some surgeons use a devise a help gravity? surely one of the bonus' of a BA is they are back where they should be? (i no when they are 1st done they are high but again gravity eventual wins that battle anyway?)
sorry if this sounds confussed . . . . if it does its because i am xx

Re: breast band
I should imagine it is to get them into their final resting place so to speak - but that is just an assumption on my part, I've just been following what my surgeon has advised. James would be able to give you the ins and outs of why it's required.

Re: breast band
Hiya,
When I first had my BA back in 2006 I had to wear one and it was so tight I felt like I couldn't breath for 2 weeks!! My first surgeon (who is rubbish at BAs!!) told me I would have to wear one as well as my support bra due to me having unders! But like carol said it has to be worn more towards the top of the twins and tiiiiigggghhhhtttt!!
Make sure you can breath though I am sure my old PS tried to break my chest bone!! :heehee:

Re: breast band
chest band usually used with unders.placed in a straight line under the armpits fairly tight,to stop the muscle keeping the implant too high

Re: breast band
Have yours dropped to the right position now Carol?
I had unders, and didnt wear a chest band. I have been wearing just comfy bras, not super supportive and leaving it off at night and mine are still a bit high. So I think the idea of the band gymchick, is that it gives gravity a help-in-hand.

i get the idea now . . . . quite clever really, can under remain tighter for a longer time then overs then? (silly question i'm sure but just wondered) wot about if you do alot of exercise, my PS said if i like keep fit etc then over's would be best, (plus i had the pocket there + breast tissue etc) as he believes that lots of exersice can cause the muscle to tighten onto the implant and cause it to become mis-shaped?

Re: breast band
Jem: Well their a bit skew-wift (?) at the moment - my rightie has dropped into the correct position, but my leftie is still a little high (but lower than it was just after surgery). However, you do have to made aware of this before you can see the difference, it's not immediately obvious xx
Narn82: I can exercise my legs etc (treadmill) and stomache, but absolutely no weights for the time being - I think my surgeon wants the muscles to fully relax and get a bit longer (if that happens) before he will allow me to do upper body stuff.

Re: breast band
I know hun, I have to do the same - but my torture is for 12 weeks when I see the surgeon for my 3 month check up. However, after the 6 weeks were up, I did allow myself to go without it occasionally during the day.
My, my, my I really must have been a naughty girl sometime during my life to deserve this

Re: breast band
Yes, I do work out in the gym hunnie - but don't do a lot of weights as I just want to keep general tone up there, don't want to build muscle like you see some women do. There's one lady down here who does weights to extremes (well I think it's extreme as she looks a bit like a slightly smaller version Arnie LOL) and that certainly isn't the look that I'm after, but I do think I'm reasonably strong (except for certain jars of pickled onions etc) and I did spend most of August to October doing a lot of very heavy work in the garden.
However I think it might be a personal pedant of my particular surgeon as my PCC who had her boobies done by him a week before me was also wearing one when I saw her last (and she can't have a day off from wearing one LOL).

Thank god though that i have got used to this band a bit now feels a lot better now and i have it tighter than at first!
i have found its better if im up doing little bits and peices rather than resting on the sofa as this felt worse just wanted to cry the first couple of days.
Thanks for your help carol.
