Areola reduction
I am thinking that I might need an areola reduction as mine are pretty huge as it is and I dont particularly like them (DH does, but it's how I feel that matters!!)
The only thing I'm worried about is if I dont get them reduced, will they get bigger after the implants are in therefore stretching my boobs more??
Also how do they do it? Do they just cut around the areola and cut out the "excess"??

Re: Areola reduction
Hi Rach
I am 4 weeks post-op and I had my implants done via aereola incision as my surgeon was reducing the size of them and uplifting. They are cut all the way around and then yes, the excess is trimmed away and then sewn back to the skin. My surgeon is a specialist in minimal scarring and you can't even see where I was cut! The scar is so fine around the outside that it will be invisible in a few months. At least this way I didn't have a scar underneath in my crease.
The only thing is they are totally numb and will probably take up to a year to gain sensation again. Once you're an active member you can request to see my photos, and I have pictures up of the scarring.

Re: Areola reduction
Thanks for that hun. I am debating on having my nipples done too.
Did it cost any extra to have your nipples reduced? If so how much (if you dont mind me asking)? Also I see it was done at the Highgate, but what company was that with??
Sorry for all the q's, just want to make sure that I know as much as I can!!

That's what we're all here for, answering questions! I didn't go via a company, I went straight to the surgeon as I was recommended him. He works for Mybreast though, and all their surgeons work at Highgate :)

Re: Areola reduction
Hi Rach26,
I was wondering all the same things! I want to get an nipple lift and areola reduction with my ba, but I cant imagine what they will look like afterwards! Iv heard that they use a "pursestring" technique to stich it, but that you can get a puckering effect around the nipple. It seems to me like there would be too much skin and not enough nipple once it has been trimmed? (sorry the way im describing this sounds gross!) Does anyone know anything about this?
Im really worried about the scars around my nipple, but angelemma's post has made me feel better!

Re: Areola reduction
I'm considering having my areolas fixed too... not sure if I will yet, sounds like nipple sensation & breastfeeding ability (mentioned this on another thread but I'd like to be able to breastfeed my future kids) might be affected hugely... I'm thinking I'm gonna go for the augment then go back later if I still hate my areolas that much lol.
angelemma, would I be able to take a look at your pics?

Re: Areola reduction
Thanks all for your replies!! I'll get hubby to take some pics so I can put them up later so you can all see what I mean when I say that a) I have huge areolas, and b) why I want a BA!!!
I will discuss with surgeons, but will probably leave it and get it done later if I feel that I still need it done xx

Re: Areola reduction
Hi Rach26,
I had uplift and my surgeon just said to me "do you want your nipples that big?" I'd never really thought about it, but i said "no can i have them a bit smaller please?"
i woke up and she had taken them both off trimmed them and put them back on, what can i say, they were amazing. The scars are fantastic, in fact you cant even see them at all and it didnt affect the feeling at all.
If you are going to have B.A i would have it all done at the same time. Have you looked on you tube for any videos on this, i remember when Kerry Katona had hers done and put on telly, i watched it, it was fascinating. Good Luck x

Re: Areola reduction
Hi Jess
Yes I had my sizers and implants through the aereola incision
My surgeon had planned on a lollipop lift so around the aereola & a vertical incision down but on the day they all decided I didn't need it so did it all that way. I am very pleased as it means I have no scarring :)

Re: Areola reduction
Emilyboots- Thats totally how I feel too although im only 18 I have saggy boobs and large areolas. Going to have a BA nipple lift and areola reduction but going to check with the surgeon to see what he thinks is the best for me. I am also worried about scarring and that they wont look as good as peoples who have only have had a BA. If anyone has any photos who have had BA nipple lift and areola reduction could I please see them :) xx

Angelamama,
I am considering areola reduction after pregnancy but I don't want a scar. I would like to see how your surgery turned out if possible. Thank you so much.

Re: Areola reduction
Hi
I'm brand new to this forum but have had my first consultation today for ba with areola reduction. The surgeon has made it clear that there will be scars and it's so hard to find pics on the net. What are the scars like? Also can somebody explain how I become an active member so I can request pics?
Thanks!

Re: Areola reduction
Hiya, i'm new to this and basically just stumbled upon this site when i was researching areola reduction. I'm only 18 but have fairly large areolas and i'm really insecure about them. I was just wondering if you can get an areola reduction WITHOUT a BA? and how much do they usually cost?
I have loads of questions but i'll just wait for a reply to these before they all come streaming out haha, thanks!
