Worried my boobs are dropping to much??
Hi girls, I have been massaging my boobies since advised by my ps at 1 week post op....how long do I need to continue? I recently heard that you only have to do this to encourage them to drop? Mine have softened and dropped (and to be honest I don't want them to drop any more) so what do you think? I'm also not sure how long this 'settling and dropping' will continue....I love them as they are now and don't want them to change, certainly not to DROP anymore!!! Help.

They may have dropped as much as they are going to, it also helps to soften the breast and to break up scar tissue. i would massage as instructed. It wont make them saggy.

I haven't been told to massage :-$ should I be? Xx

I have chosen smooth implants & have been advised to massage a few times a day - forever. My PS's theory is that a smooth implant sits within a pocket and moves around in the pocket. He said massage encourages the implants to keep moving and therefore lowers the chance of CC. i realise this is his opinion but he's performed BAs for 25 years and has worked with all different types of implants.

No, not unless you have smooth implants hunni or your surgeon specifically instructs you to massage when you have textured.
ang -I'd contunue as your PS has instructed hunni, if you have textured implants and your surgeon felt it was necessary hun, it's usually as misf1 says to break down scar tissue or to encourage the implant to drop.
If you feel your breasts are nice and soft and have settled into a nice position and want to stop massaging then maybe give your clinic a call and maybe ask for their advice sweetie, but I wouldn't advise stopping unless you get the OK from your surgeon/clinic. xx
Re: Worried my boobs are dropping to much??
Thanks girls, you know, I think I had high profile 'smooth' so I'm really confused now!!! Will call my ps tomorrow to confirm with them if they ARE indeed smooth and if they are WHY am I massaging...I dont mind doing it as sometimes it is quite soothing but I'm just concerned that sometimes I don't have time to do it.
Could I ask another question while I'm here? Are any girls still feeling numbness under the boobs, I am, more under the left one. I also can't stand the feel of anything against the 'band area' even if really loose, needless to say my sports bra irritates the hell out of me!!! Because of this I have to go without when I'm at home during the evening and have even stopped wearing it through the night....I just hope to god it won't have an adverse effect in the long term. xx

I would think with Transform you had the standard round textured allergan CUI implant? Unless you chose differet? Usually you have to massage smoth implants more so than textured to help prevent CC. With textured implants it's supposed to be harder for the scar tissue to form a hard layer around the implant, so some surgeons feel there is no need to massage, others feel the risk is stll there so prefer you to massage.
As for numbness, it should start to get better over the weeks and months although some patches of numbness can be permanent. I'm sure taking your bra off for a few hours when you get home would be fine. Is the band too tight? Is that why it's causing discomfort? Or maybe try a sports bra with a lower band, like the crop top syle ones?

Thanks for that Misf1....My sports bra isn't tight, but it sure feels like it is. Maybe my skin is still sensitive as it doesnt matter what I wear bra wise it irritates something shocking!! But only around the band area.
I did go to Transform so maybe they were 'textured'....maybe it will be ok to continue massaging them, I was just worried they soften too much. xx

Re: Worried my boobs are dropping to much??
Hi Angbaby!
I'm now about to be 1 month post op, and I have the exact same thing. I'm not sure if it's just where the sutures are still not quite dissolved, but it could drive me mad some days! I only seem to have the knots at the end that still haven't dissolved, and I am wondering if it's these that are the problem (the skin under the knots is quite red as well, but I think this may all just be part of the process???) I have to keep trying to lift my breasts a bit to try and alleviate the irritation but its not helping much. I also have a compression garment around my tummy, and I don't think this is helping either! I think just having a little breather is good....I have got 4 sports bras and every one of them has an irritating seam, right where my scarline is.
Lets hope it's not for much longer! :dunno: xx

Re: Worried my boobs are dropping to much??
hi hun, my scars have healed really well and hardly any redness or irritation. My problem is where the band lies (upper ribcage really) but I suppose it could just be that my skin is quite sensitive after all the initial swelling post op. I even have a bra extender for my sports bra's to loosen the band area but they still 'kill' me!!
I shouldn't complain really as I seem to be healing quite well and apart from my left nipple being very sensitive - Ouch, and some numbness under my left boob, I'm relatively discomfort free now.
I just look forward to jumping in the shower in the evening and going without a bra for the rest of the night....heaven!!! xx

Re: Worried my boobs are dropping to much??
Have you tried maybe using a panty liner to cushion your skin from the bra band hun? The soft cotton against your skin might not be as painful or sensitive for you sweetness. Just place the sticky side to the bra band and have the soft bit next to the skin. xx

Ooh, I'll try that Cookie. I don't know why I didn't think of it because I put little round cotton pads in my bra against my nipples when they were really sensitive!! I'll give it a try. xx

Hiya Rach, I was allowed to shower 'properly' after my sutures had dissolved and my nurse trimmed the outer ones 10 days post op, my hubby was helping me shower before that because I couldn't lift my arms to well, but it's just not the same. It is sooooo nice when you get under the shower properly post op (especially to be able to wash your hair)
Are you post op now babe? Or are you still waiting? xx

Re: Worried my boobs are dropping to much??
Am a whole 4 weeks post op today!!! I wish I had had mine trimmed....the surgeons wife (she is the resident wound care specialist) said that it would be ok to but then the following week my surgeon said to try and leave them just in case!?!!? I have been showering and bathing, but I can't WAIT for the day when I can get into bed without a bra on. I also can't wait to wear a normal bra during the day....I hate the sports bra now, and just want to feel feminine again! Finally lost the compression garment for my tummy today though, so that's one good step forward!! I'm seeing my surgeon again next Monday, so I am going to ask him to rid me of the knots then! xxx
