Back from PIP re-op
Hello Everyone,
I am back from having my reop and everything went well.
After going in late, i came out of recovery and within half an hour was awake and within an hour walking about, for some reason i came out of the GA really well (i did have lots of oxygen though).
My PS confirmed i did have a rupture in my right implant which didnt look good, i was told in recovery they had seen worse though. No capsules were taken out so hopefully i will heal a bit more quickly. I am not in much pain at the moment and seem to have full range of motion in my left arm.
Unfortunately because of the rupture the right one will always hang a little lower now, but i dont mind as i am so relieved to have them out. And i know it sounds strange but whether it is psycological or not, i feel better already and the implants feel healthy.
So pleased to be home recovering now, just want to say big luck and hugs for all the other PIP girls out there, it is really difficult and stressful but try to be strong!
xx

Re: Back from PIP re-op
Hi Vix, sorry to ask a daft question if you have already posted it, but did you know you had a rupture/leak, did you have a scan that clarified it, or was it just that you wanted the pips out? i have pips and am being passed backwards and forwards between clinic, g.p and hospital at the moment. going for a scan soon as been referred by hospital (not sure if show anything up as it seems most scans are inconclusive?). Really pleased for you, x

Re: Back from PIP re-op
Hi Sherri,
I didnt have a scan, i saw my ps and he said he was 90% sure i had a rupture, but also my left implant was flipping which is not supposed to happen. I was also within my 3 year aftercare so my surgeon said he would just like to get them replaced asap even if he didnt suspect a rupture he would recommend them be replaced because of the flipping. Of course this advice was based on the fact i was in my aftercare and it wouldnt cost me.
If i was out of my aftercare a rupture would have to be confirmed first, and i believe an MRI is the most accurate way to tell this.
Have you been back to your ps? and do you think you have a rupture?
Good luck xx

Re: Back from PIP re-op
Oh also, they cannot confirm a rupture just by examination, you would definately need a scan x
