My Breast have moved my op time :-(
Hi Ladies,
Received a message today to say that my admission has been moved from 6am on 19th August to 1pm to make space for NHS operations in the morning.
I'm gutted as I am a day patient and have fitted my childcare and lift to london around this time etc.
This literally means I will be under the knife, few hours to recover and shipped out!
On top of that I cant eat ALL DAY!
All this incovenience and I'm paying them £4500 for the privelige!!
Anyone else had this happen to them?
Anyone had a late afternoon slot - how did you feel afterwards on a scale of 1-10?
Do you think I would need an over night stay?
Whats the latest I can eat and drink for 1pm admission?
Ceejay xx

Re: My Breast have moved my op time :-(
HIya, my op was at 3 o clock and I was almost ready to go home by about 8 o clock, the only reason I had to stay was because my blood pressure dropped too low. I wasnt allowe to eat or drink anything after about 7 o clock Im afraid so i spent all day starving.

That doesn't seem fair especially when you are a day case. I didn't realise people had their ba and came out the same day until I came on here and I would probably be a bit apprehensive about coming home the same day it my op was later in the afternoon. Are you a day case because you live close by? It must be ok though or surely they wouldn't risk it. x

Re: My Breast have moved my op time :-(
No, unfortunately i have to travel from cambridge to london that day and leave the kids until i come out - thats why I went for a day case although i had someone who could have them overnight I would have gone for that - just for the relaxation!!
I can well imagine I will not be in a fit state to be mummy as they know me for a few days - least of all with 2 rugby balls strapped to my chest!! LOL
But I thought it's now or never and as a single mum there will never be a right time to do it!!

Re: My Breast have moved my op time :-(
If your surgeon works from an NHS hospital this does not give you priority over NHS patients, it does give you a private room with private care during your stay there.
Your clinic pays for theatre time at the hospital for your operation, it's quite possible that NHS patients with an 'urgent' need possibly need the slots first, if there isn't a slot until later in the day then they can't push other patients aside if their op if felt to take priority... sorry hunni, maybe they will be able to fit you in if they possibly can, I hope so hun and it's definately worth a try. xx

I hope they will let you go in at the earlier time, it doesn't seem fair to change your time when you have sorted out your child care, etc. let us know how you get on xxx
