Couldn't do it :(
was booked in for my BA today, got up at 5, fasted, sorted evrything bought new bras, caught 3 trains but couldn't have it done after all :(
Turned up to the clinic asap considering its 100plus miles away. Very nervous few days before I have to admit. Arrived at the clinic beleiving I was a night patient but found out I was to be sent home at 7.30 that evening, considering I only arrived at 1ish in the afternoon thought this was abit too short a time to be under observation and then when the surgeon came out of surgery for a chat found out I was to be given high projection implants which I didnt want. Anyway evrything together made me decide not to go through with the surgery. All credit to the nurses and surgeon who wer very understanding and caring but somewhere along the line wires got crossed and comunication broke down. Now im struggling to sort my finances out bcos the nurses and surgeon assured me I could have full repayment but the company reception is saying no :(
Anyway sorry for the essay just wondered if anyone could offer advice. Thanks xxx

Re: Couldn't do it :(
Oh no Georgie that must have been so disappointing for you. Are you still wanting to have your BA? or not at all now?
I can't really advise about the money but what an awfull day you've had, I hope you don't feel too deflated, you did the right thing not going ahead with it if important things like the implant itself and your care afterwards weren't going to be right.
xx

Aww what a day you've had!
I think you made the right choice though I wouldn't fancy travelling home so soon after especially 100 odd miles!! Sounds a bit dodgy to me.
I'm so gutted for you, what a disappointment.
I hope they sort out your repayment soon too. xx

That does sound bad, I feel so sorry for you. It's a real shame after all the build up. What company did you go with? Will you have it done in a few months or is that it?

Re: Couldn't do it :(
Oh no darl! Surely it's illegal for them to charge for a service they haven't provided. The implants are included in that fee but you haven't had them. If it's their fault then they shouldn't charge you otherwise a cancellation fee would be appropriate. By the sounds of it - it's a good thing it didn't happen..you can't get turfed out at 7 when you thought you'd be staying and not get the projection you wanted. Fight for your money and go somewhere else. Keep us posted you brave thing. It'll happen for you stay strong. If it didn't feel right then it worked out for the best.
Get me harping on sorry sweetness the other gals are better at this. xxxx

Firstly BIG hug for you sweetness
I can't actually find any info about cancellation fees or anything on their website, I should imagine given that the error was theirs and you were scheduled for surgery you hadn't requested or payed for they should at least offer you another consultation to ensure you are getting 'exactly' what you want and another date for surgery to give you what you payed for this time (overnight stay and the correct profile), I'm unsure whether you'll be entitled to a refund though hun as their website doesn't give any info, you'd be best discussing this with the clinic manager today, see what they say and possibly speak with citizens advice hun. xxx
Re: Couldn't do it :(
oh no, how disappointing. I would have thought high projection would have been the right choice as you look very slim in your avatar.
You need confidence in your surgeon though. Its just a shame you didnt discuss those things before the big day. Im pretty sure for most places there is a last date before the op you can cancel and not lose your money, because they need to be able to fill the space again. On the day youll be very very lucky to get your money back, but i wish you all the best in trying. Its a lot to lose.

Re: Couldn't do it :(
Honey you made the right decision hun. You have to be 100% happy & in control of the situation.
Re a refund. Did you get any paperwork through the post?? Only reason i asl is i did & it stated about refunds on it. A certain % you could get back so many weeks before surgery but if it was so close to surgery & def on the day you were entitled to nothing back as its such short notice. I hope you succeed :-( xxxxx

Re: Couldn't do it :(
Oh hun,
i think you did the right thing if you werent happy with the arrangements. Most companies state that if you cancel that close to the op then you cant have your money back but maybe you could see a different surgeon? and make sure an overnight stay is included.
Hope you get it sorted.xx

Re: Couldn't do it :(
Sorry for the late reply early night after all of yesterdays shannanigans!!
Well .. still struggling with the money situation. As I said they assured me that I could have full refund as I wasnt getting the service I had originally thought, I made it clear before I left the hospital that I could not afford to lose this much money as Im only 20 and this is every penny i have and it cost me another £100 on top yestday for a hotel room I booked my boyfreind which he didnt need and last min train tickets home. Now iv rang the company up again today and they are saying that I cant have a refund, I could have the op again but I dont want this as Iv got no holidays from work untill next year now and I have no faith in this company. I raised my voice over the phone only stating facts but the secretary shouted at me to "get a grip" and refused to talk to me again. My boyfriend has since rung her and she is saying to him that all they can do is re-scedule the op but I realy dont want this as Iv lost all faith in this company :(
Sorry for the essay AGAIN! anyway very disapointed, angry and upset atm. Not sure what to do but Im not giving up on the money! Nobody has said to me before, or sent a letter stating a cancellation date or fee.
Thanks for all your support xxx

Re: Couldn't do it :(
on my paperwork with mybreast, they say that if youve got a genuine medical reason to cancel, you can cancel at any time.
I really think theyre being reasonable by offering to reschedule the surgery for you, but theyre under no legal obligation to just give your money back if you just changed your mind on the day, because they would have had all the staff, surgeons theatre all set up and would have to pay those people anyway.
It just goes to show how you need to research your company and surgeon BEFORE you hand your money over

Re: Couldn't do it :(
ahh this sucks, sorry to hear about your bad experience!
You didnt by any chance pay on a creditcard did you? as you might have some protection with that.
If talking to them fails, then either citizens advice bureau or contact a solicitor. They cant keep hold of your money if they havent given you the service you were paying for.
Good luck and keep us all posted! xxx

Re: Couldn't do it :(
Sorry to hear this Georgie.
What profile implants were you supposed to be getting? Have you got any paperwork with what you were told you were getting? So, for example, if you thought you were getting low profile and they wrote that down on your paperwork then you get to the clinic and they say high profile, you have some backing there.
I think that it's very unlikely that you will get your money back hun. Even if you go to a solicitor or to the Citizen's Advice Bureau. You would have signed a contract saying that you will lose the money if you cancel on the day of surgery.
Likewise, does it state in your paperwork that you would have an overnight stay? I was with Transform and I would have had to have paid an extra £500 to stay overnight. Although saying that, Transform would have made me pay to stay overnight if my home was more that 1 hour drive from the clinic. So, why were they going to let you travel 100 miles home after surgery????
I'd write a letter to a manager and go through your contract with a fine toothed comb.
Good luck
