Gutted - Still Can't Shower!
Had my 2 week check with the nurse today who removed my stitches so I thought nice one I can shower but er no I can't! She said the dissolvable stitches either side of my incisions will need to be trimmed next week then she will put some more steri strips on that I can removed myself after 3/4 days then I can shower!
Has anyone else had to wait this long? On my initial and subsequeny consult I was told I would have dissolvable stitches and would be able to shower after a one week - whats going on?!
Getting abit down now, everytime I can excited about a shower or the unveiling of my new boobies I get set back! If I had been told I would have dressings on for 3/4 weeks at the outset I wouldn't be bothered but this is getting ridiculous

Hmm two weeks seems long to me...not showering that long may introduce more bacteria to the incision?? I am not doctor but that doesn't sound too sterile. I was able to shower on the second day. I had the incision in the arm pit.
Hope that helps!

aww hun I know its not nice but its best to do as they say - they are advising what is best for you and your healing. Just think it will make that first shower even more amazing! xx

Hmmmm it does sound a long time, but they know best I suppose? It's strange how different all the surgeons are, I showered with my drains 8 hours after op and have been showering every day ever since. What is supposed to be so bad about showering?

i'd follow doctors orders....but it does seem at bit long to me also. i have disolvable stitches, no drains, and showered the morning after. my doc only advised to keep my back to the shower not the front. i took an extra step and put glad press and seal wrap (do y'all have that over there?) around the boobies and it seals pretty well...not perfect, but very minimal moisture.

I recalled I had to wait what seemed like ages for my first shower too hun and I've just checked back through my boobie diary and I was 2 weeks 1 day post-op hun, so yes, I too had to wait longer than what seemed 'the norm' hun.
You'll appreciate that shower all the more hun, you're clinic are just ensuring you get the best from your recovery babe, your scars just needed that little bit longer to heal hun that's all
Try not to compare your recovery to that of others babe, when others seem to be progressing quicker than you it can get you down, but just remember, we all heal differently, you're not on your own and you can bet your bottom dollar there's always one of us who has experienced the same babe. xxx

Thanks girls but as I have to wait at least another week then another couple of days it's going to be 3 1/2 weeks!
The nurse said the scars looked good and were healing well, maybe she was telling porkies?! x

Hey hun,
That does seem like a long time but they will only give you the best advice for you. The time will fly by.
How are you doing other than the shower thing ??!! I am so fed up of wearing sports bras and am dying to go bra shopping! x

Yes I've been washing my hair and having shallow baths and my hubby has washed my back so I'm not dirty it's just not as refreshing as a shower.
other than the shower thing though I feel great, abit uncomfy first thing in the morning and sleeping is still a pain as I always slept on my front before but other than that I feel back to normal x

ahh not showering for nearly a month cant be good for the rest of your body! it would drive me bonkers!
I had showers since day 2, and had to pat down and blow dry my dressings every time!
I miss sleeping on my front too! i tried laying on my front the other day and OMG im not going to try that again for a while! felt like they were going to impale my ribcage! lol!
