Right candidate for BA
I'm 5ft 3",weigh 11st and would have a have a broad frame. I have lost about a stone and a half in the last 12 months and intend on losing another half a stone to a stone more.
I may be 11st and only small but i wouldn't say I looked 'fat' I seem to carry my weight well and when I say how heavy I am people look at me like i'm stupid.
Do you think the suregon will think i'm too overweight for my height for this surgery and refuse until I lose more weight?
Anyone is the same boat as me? Can you give me advice on sizes to go up to for my frame and will intending to lose more weight in the future affect my implant size?
Sorry there's soooo many questions in 1 post

Hi hun, I haven't really heard of surgeons turning down patients because of their weight, unless they are unhealthy I guess... and as you say you weigh more than you look, so maybe you simply have a lot of muscles or heavy bones.
I can't really say anything about sizes, the surgeon will be able to advise on that - and it depends on what size you are now and what result you are after.... :) good luck with your consultation xxx

Re: Right candidate for BA
Hi Jemmy, I can't help as i'm 5'3 but weigh like 7.5 stone (need to put on weight! lol) i dont think they will turn you down unless you were really obese or deathly thin as the GA would be dangerous, you sound healthy to me.
I would ask at the consult what effect it would have on your implants/look if your weight was to yoyo a bit. If you were to put on alot of weight after your BA your boobs might get bigger and then if you lose weight they may sag as the skin would be stretched out or you may get ripples, im not sure though. Your ps will advise you on implant size hun xxx

Congratulations on your weight loss hun!

Absolutely not, no surgeon would say you are too overweight for a BA at just 11stone, he may advise you to be your desired weight before having your BA as this would give you the best result regarding size of implant etc as he would have a clearer picture regarding the amount of breast tissue you will already have

I had to lose a stone and a half pre-op due to pregnancy and i got down to the last 7lb, I would say 7lb over your desired is not excessive when choosing your size of implants, so would recommend trying to get down to that size range as stones of weight loss after a BA can alter your final result. Your surgeon is the best person to tell you the size you need as everyone is so different and there are many many different sizes/shapes & then the positioning needs to be considered too and whether an uplift is needed so all this would be discussed with you at a consultation
Sorry there's soooo many questions in 1 post

Re: Right candidate for BA
As SS so brilliantly said, I'm sure no PS would object to surgery for you.
The question is though, if you have your BA now your result may be compromised if you lose a lot of weight, say 2 or 3 stone. Your surgeon may want you to try and get as close to the weight you want to end up as possible, then he can offer you an implant that's not too big or too wide for your new frame.
However if you're happy with your weight and only really want to lose a few pounds I should see no problems in the surgery.

Re: Right candidate for BA
Thanks for all your replies!
I wouldn't say that I would get down to 10stone and look healthy anyway. My hips are wide and I have quite muscular legs from being sporty all my life so am not expecting miracles.
I think maybe a few lbs to get rid of the last bit of belly n bum fat is going to be about all i'll need really.
Obviously I will tell the surgeon that I'm currently working toward losing a few more lbs but am hoping that by the time I decide to book i'll already be there. I spent £60 on fitness DVD's from USA so they better work :)
Am wanting the BA not only for my self confidence but also to even out my body. I'm rather bottom heavy and all shoulders atm.
Got so many questions, just a shame my consultation aint for another 2 weeks.

Re: Right candidate for BA
Hi hun, I'm 5' 4" and my weight was 11 stone when I had my BA. Unfortunatley I've put on a few more pounds since then... but I feel way more in proportion now than I did before. As I most definitely was bottom heavy and now I'm more balanced.
I don't think your surgeon would have any objections on operating on you.

Re: Right candidate for BA
Thanks Angelpie - what size bra are you now, all this 'cc' talk doesn't really mean anything to me atm as I haven't been to see the surgeon yet.
Would be interesting to know what you were before your GA and what you are now so I can go in with some kind of idea what I want.

I've not been properly measured yet but I am comfortably wearing a 36d now (I was a 36a/aa pre-op).
