Really worried about it getting cancelled!!

Everyone I'm so upset!  I've been feeling under the weather since last Friday but then perked up on Sunday and thought I'd kicked it.  When i went for my preop on Tues the nurse mentioned I had a bit of a temperature but I felt fine so didn't think much of it!

Since yesterday afternoon I just feel a heaviness on my chest - its like a lurgy is in there trying to strike.  I feel like I'm getting a cough and I've got a sore throat.  My whole family have had a cough but because its aching in my chest I'm just so nervous.

WHY?  I've waited so long for this date, been so patient watching other ladies on here coming and going and surely it must be my turn now?  I just feel like this isn't going to happen and I want to cry!

I contacted the nurse who said it wouldn't cost me anything if we had to reschedule due to ill health (they want you in optimal health for surgery ideally) but I don't want to reschedule.  I've planned my life around it and hubby has booked time off etc! 

I know you can't help me and I know I'm worrying about something which hasn't happened yet but I just get a feeling I'm never going to be this lucky for it to go ahead as planned.

Feeling very sorry for myself over here and needed to vent!! xx

Ahhhhhhh Lucy I can only imagine how you're feeling because I was feeling this exact way even this morning I've got a bit of sore throat before I've gone to hospital. Jus think you have 6 days until the op and if you've already been a bit unwell through the week it's likely to have gone by the date of the op.

I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you I know how excited you have been for this date!! I think the anticipation does awful things to our bodies xxxxx

Poor you Lucy. I think maybe it will be better in a few days, I'm not too sure if you can take any think for this paracetamol ??? Maybe just ask the nurse, it's probably nerves and excitement. Let's hope this turns in to nothing. I had a cough as soon as I woke from the GA and had it for 4 weeks after but it wasn't a chest infection. I think they only cancel if it's a chest infection. Fingers crossed you will be fine xxxxxxxx

I hope you don't come down with anything. Try drinking buckets loads of water to flush away any bugs. I drink a lot of water anyway but when I feel like I'm coming down with something I drink even more and I tend to feel a bit better. (spend a lot of time weeing though). xx

Try steaming it out, head over a bowl covered by a towel. Get some Vit C into your system also. Fingers crossed it passes in time xx

Feeling rather rough but still determined to fight this! Achy all over, chills, temperature, heavy chest! Something is def trying to get me! I'm trying so hard - lots of honey and lemon, water and paracetamol and early bed! Really hope I can fight it off in a few days so I can be fit for next weds.

But I've also come to terms with the fact that I may need to postpone. At least I'll be fit for Christmas if that's the case. Reeeeeally don't want to have to postpone but what will be, will be!

I feel like something is definitely attacking my body.  Feel tired, achy, chest still hurting.  No cough or told, appetite is fine (takes a lot to kill that!) and drinking lots.  Last night I was sweating a lot in bed and didn't sleep well but I decided not to travel to London for work today and instead work from home.  i'm just off for a little sleep - I'm determined to fight it and hopefully I'll be ok in 5 days.  Keep everything crossed for me - I really hope I'll be ok!!! xx

aaawww Lucy hope you feel better soon. I keep thinking wine is going to be cancelled because of the weather. We are due some snow here this weekend. not a lot but its getting colder it could mean more snow.  xx

See look - you are getting all paranoid now.  That starts happening the closer it gets!  Feeling a bit  more perky - just exhausted, but I'm dosed up on paracetamol which helps! x

Hope you're not too bad. If its just a cold or virus, it should be fine, they should be able to still operate. Its if its a chest infection, something bacterial, or something that requires anti-bs that they may postpone. If you can, maybe head to see a nurse or walk in centre to get checked out so you can make a decision to postpone or not.

Liking the Avi MrsF!!  How are you feeling?

I'm fine in terms of the virus - I beat it!  But I still have bad lower backache - its in my spine.  Fine walking around cleaning the house but trying to sit at my desk and work is agony.  Lucky I have 2 weeks off then!  It'll go away hopefully - at least after tomorrow I can take Ibruprofen which will do the trick I think!  Hope you are ok - been thinking of you too xx

Hi you could go to your gp to tell him the situation and to give you some antibiotics just In case. If you say it's causing you anxiety because of the situation he should help. Xx

Hi Annerichley - I went to the gp in the end to set my mind at rest.  He said all ok to go ahead with the op and that my back pain is just one of those things - should improve in a few weeks and if not I'll go back.  Just need to dose up on paracetamol etc!

So its all systems go for tomorrow - eeeek! x
