Ladies with unders....
How has your recovery been? I know everyone's will be different but unders have a prolonged recovery period and I just wanna know what everyone's experience has been. I have 10 days off of work and then I return for one and a half days and then I'm off for a further 5! I'm hoping that will be ok but I'm a trainee lawyer so have to lift out of cabinets etc. Might have to pretend I cracked a rib on my time off

Re: Ladies with unders....
Its sore and tight and heavy. Less pain, more ache. You're movement can be very limited. I couldn't reach up to my head for about a week and a half. And you soon realise you use those muscles for a lot more than you knew!
You should be fine taking that time off work. But I would absolutely say you cant do ANY lifting in that time, you'll just hurt yourself. Cracked rib or back injury is a common one.

Re: Ladies with unders....
I was so much better than I was expecting!
I was back in work after 11 days with no problems, just felt more tired than usual to start with.
I was making meals the following day, doing some housework the day after and even washed my hair bent over the bath-tub after 3 days! Ventured outdoors after 3 days I think. Honestly was so much easier than I was expecting!

Re: Ladies with unders....
Thank you so much girls!! Once again reassuring me I really do appreciate it. I am so excited now.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] no lifting in the 10 days off or the entire 17 day period?

Re: Ladies with unders....
It will depend on what your surgeon says- mine just said not to raise my arms above my head for 7 days; other than that it was as pain permitted! Some are stricter than others - I've only just been given the go ahead for non-sports bras and going back to the gym (6 weeks on)!

Re: Ladies with unders....
I was expecting to be much worse than I was. On day two I was out and about at a bonfire party and went to a cafe. I couldn't lift my arms well for about a week and I had a week without my children home which I felt was the perfect amount of time because on day seven I woke up and definitely felt more with it. I started a new job at 13 days post op and was able to work at my desk and carry light files etc without anyone knowing anything x

Re: Ladies with unders....
No lifting until you have the all clear for exercise, 6-12wks! In the grand scheme of things, its not worth doing yourself a mischief and putting yourself back to square one.

Re: Ladies with unders....
No pain as such, just uncomfortable. Back ache was prob the worst bit. I wasn't comfortable to drive until 3 weeks x

Re: Ladies with unders....
I was the same as muddy, it wasn't like actual pain where your crying, was more of a hinderence that I couldn't do the little things like pull my jeans on, open the door, flush toilets, and lift the kettle! To name a few...LOL
My back ached a lot from trying to sleep upright.
But as you can see everyone is different.
Just listen to your body, don't do too much as it will just set you back.
I went to my sons sports day on day 9 (I think), and was ok, but standing upright was so difficult.
They ached and I wanted to hunch and cradle them. I was so out of breath when I got home, and was only out an hour!
Felt about 90!

Re: Ladies with unders....
Oh no Xmas day is day 9 for me - going over my brother and sister in laws - really worried as there will be lots of children and I'll have to muck in and help. I guess I'll have to rest a lot before and after! X

Re: Ladies with unders....
Don't worry @lucy, I'm very concerned about the Christmas period all the hugging!!! Most of my family know I'm having it done as I have spoken about it for years, but it's my partner family I'm worried about, I know you shouldn't care about people's opinions but I just feel a lot of people have a vision of what women who have plastic surgery are like and I can't be arsed with them thinking badly of me! My partner gets offended when I say about it and says his family is not judgmental but I'd rather they didn't know

Re: Ladies with unders....
I'm the same IFJG but I haven't told my parents either. I will possibly tell them eventually but I will NEVER want my inlaws to find out. They are definitely judgemental. They think we are being extravagant even if I buy so much as a new top or get a manicure. The thought of them knowing about my boobs terrifies me. It would be the worst thing ever. Not sure how I will hide it but I will manage somehow and my hubby will back me up and make excuses for me etc. Luckily he's on my side and appreciates the reasons i don't want them to know. Dreading how I'll feel on Xmas day but I'll just have to manage somehow! xx

Re: Ladies with unders....
I had unders on Thursday so am 3 days post today & feel pretty much back to normal. I did the school run (walked) on day 1, drove 60mile round trip on day 2, washed my hair today & don't really feel in pain or restricted at all. I don't know if I am lucky, stupid, or if the anaesthetic is super long lasting!! I am trying to be careful not to lift my toddler more than I absolutely have to though.

p.s. I will be going back to work at 5 days post op, but would have managed going back at 2 days post if I'd had to.

Re: Ladies with unders....
Blimey dangleberry - you are hardcore!! Some girls seem to get away with a really easy recovery - I hope I'll be one of them but I'm prepared for the worst and have in my head I'll be useless for the first 4 days at least! May I ask how old u are dangleberry? Just the younger girls seem to have an easy recovery from what I've seen being on here. I'm 37 xx

Re: Ladies with unders....
I'm 37 too! I am quite hardcore I suppose, also not many people know I have had it done so there was more incentive to carry on as normal so people didn't suspect.
I won't lie, the day of the op & that first night in hospital were not good, but it got better very quickly as soon as I got home.
I am fairly fit & fairly strong I guess, but not gladiator standard by any means!

Re: Ladies with unders....
Thanks dangleberry! I like to think I'm quite hardcore, gave birth twice naturally, no drugs, no gas and air. But I'm still very nervous! Fingers crossed I'll be a lucky one xx

Re: Ladies with unders....
I was so much worse than I thought. I couldn't do nothing for 2 weeks. I went back to work after 3 weeks. I couldn't stand up straight I was so hunched over !!! It really surprised me as I have had a few operations and I was fine after a few days. I don't no if it's because I have really strong chest muscles. Xxxx I hope I haven't scared xxxx

Re: Ladies with unders....
I think basically, you just don't know how you will be untill your there! I was surprised how bad I felt, but again not in a pain way, but more discomfort and hunching over etc.
Hopefully you will be fine, but if not, it is only a week or 2 usually that the discomfort is there so not long.
Try n think about all the, lovely bra's you wil be able to buy, that should get you through!!

Re: Ladies with unders....
It just goes to show how different we all are. I wasn't to bad, was coping with a broken toe at same time as BA and that was by far worse pain. The best advise is listen to your surgeon and your body, and if you feel like your doing too much, slow down and take it easy xx

Re: Ladies with unders....
Oh I can handle the pain!! I just don't want questions on Xmas day! Also I lift weights and prob have built up quite strong chest muscles so I think that might make it more painful. Oh well - anything for boobies! X

Re: Ladies with unders....
I did wide hello greatings, kinda leant in more to give a kiss on the cheek so that bodies didn't get to close. I don't think anyone who didn't know suspected anything x

Re: Ladies with unders....
you will be fine Lucy106, I had to have epidurals & every other drug going in both of my labours so if you can do birth with no pain relief I'm sure you will be fine!!
