Private MRI routinely...?
Happy new year girls!! Hope you all had a great festive period?
I lost a really close family member at the beginning of Dec to breast cancer. I have since found a lump (I'm sure it's nothing but minds going crazy) my aunt was 47 and we have no family history of breast cancer. This brings me to my question - do any of you have or intend to have private MRI scans to check for any probs related to implants (eg. Rupture) or any other nasties not directly related to implants? I know I'm a worrier but would just like to hear your opinions?
Xxx

Yup yup! Hubby and I have both had private MRIs for separate things, and for £250 every 3yrs for peace of mind, i'll definitely be getting them checked out.

Oh i hope the lump is nothing to worry about! Yes i'll be definately getting a private MRI scan every 3 years, that is what the FSDA advise.
Personally i think it's worth it for peace of mind xx

Re: Private MRI routinely...?
Thanks girls!
£250 is a lot cheaper than I expected. (Not that the money was the deciding factor)
Before I had my BA I'd been to the breast clinic twice both with the same lump on my right side ( I'm paranoid about it) both times the said it was probably a milk duct from breast feeding my daughter. I then went on to have my son and breast fed him and then when he was 1 I got my implants. The lump is on the right side again, don't know if it's the same one but moved because of implant? I just hate the thought of going bk about if again and them thinking I'm a total paranoid freak! I know if I was reading this post I'd advise to go and see about it though so will make an appointment.
Sorry for going on! What company did you's use for MRI?

Re: Private MRI routinely...?
We went through the Spire. The price varies depending on how soon you need the appointment (well, it does for our local in Windsor) but you should find all the info online. Have a google, you should find something. But deffo go with a reputable clinic, not MRIs R US or something!

Hey hopefully it's nothing to worry about. Get yourself checked, to put your mind at rest
I have MRIs every year now because both my mum and aunt (her sister) had cancer under the age of 50 so I'm At high risk.
Hope all works out ok. Xx

Re: Private MRI routinely...?
Thank you so much ladies. It's so nice to be able to come on here and get advice from people who have experience. I've always felt guilty for having a BA because of what my aunt went thru and I never told her that I got it done! I'll deffo be getting regular MRIs. You truly are a good bunch

Re: Private MRI routinely...?
Sorry to hear of your loss . With your previous lump being a milk duct chances are it's probably that again but you won't know for sure until you get it checked. My sister has had all sorts of lumps in her breasts over the years thankfully cysts, milk ducts etc,the last time they removed her milk ducts through an incision around her areola and you can't see she's had anything done! do go see your GP , your not being paranoid you're doing the responsible thing in getting it checked!
