SHE FILLED ME UP!! woohoo.. my right boobie still wasnt right so she filled it up another 70cc.. i REALLY hope this is the last of having to do it cos i nearly fainted lol.. not cos of the pain or anything - tbh im not sure why i did anyways cos im normally fine with all that needle stuff.. Anyways its made a great difference already, just gotta wait for it to settle and drop to the other one. Will update my picturetrail soon so you guys can see :) X

From what I've read saline implants have a valve that can be re-opened and topped up, but there's definitely no way of topping silicone up. xx

This confused me early today, and I was going to say, how does this work, this is the first time I have heard about this.

If its got a valve on it, how good is that if you knock the implant,
and the valve goes??

I should imagine they're pretty tough Bouncy. I have heard of saline implants rupturing, but never the valve bursting open. xx

I'm 'presuming' T.Smith has adjustable saline implants and the valve lays just under the skin, but this type of implant is very rarely used other than for reconstruction from what I've read and that's not what's written in her profile.

Other than that I have absolutely no idea At my appointment.. 267328

I wasn't aware any other implant type would be able to be 'topped up'

I think they are filled in the same way a gastric band is done, via a "port" placed just under the skin and a needle with saline is inserted into it and saline put in, this then increases the size of the boobs.Its a one way port so no fluid can escape. xx

Sounds like saline to me. Most of my friends and girls I knew back in Canada had these done back in the 90s. They can be topped up once inside your body through a valve. They are very durable too, I have friends who've had them for ages, almost twenty years. The difference is you know it when they rupture since the body reabsorbs the saline and the breast deflates xxx

OK so most of you seem confused about what they are.... Right so i have implants called the double lumen ones which have both cohesive gel (gummy bear) and saline.. so the inner bit is saline that can be filled up or taken down through a 'port' as said before. They are square things at the side of my boobs near my underarms.. they are rather uncomfortable and i can feel them really easily. I'll need another surgery to take these out later on AFTER they are fully evened out. Because i had asymmetry pretty badly, i had these rare implants cos they are really good for this and allowed my smaller breast to expand/stretch... :)
She put a needle into the port and filled my implant up 70mls.
Also yes cookie they are used for reconstruction. My surgeon is a breast cancer surgeon so she chose the best implants for me.

Thanks for explaining Tsmith :flowers: It did figure that your implants would be adjustables from what you'd written and because they are only used for reconstruction they are rarely used as you say.

I have since this thread read a lot more about saline implants and it's been quite interesting reading up on them, so thanks for that Tsmith, I enjoy a good boobie read lol. Xx
