Why do we call the surgeons mr and not doctor? Are they not doctors? I know it's unimportant but little things like this play on my mind ... I can't help but think about these things (once while on the loo I wondered how come we speak different languages across different countries but yet a lot of us have the same alphabet... See! Bizarres thoughts just follow me around... My mind never stops thinking)

No they are not doctors, they don't get the same training and don't gain a doctorate either x

When they start their training they're a Mr, then they qualify to become a Doctor, then go back to being a Mr when they become a consultant surgeon - its an inverted snobbery thing. A surgeon called 'Mr' is likely more qualified than someone with the title 'Dr' strange but true...

Thanks lx, very interesting and make more sense than them just not being doctors... That would have been highly worrying! Glad I asked x
