Rupture

Went to dr because I felt a lump, he said I have ruptured and need ultrasound :( not sure where to
Go from here, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi LadyPom, so sorry to hear that, that's awful news.  How long have you had your implants and will the corrective surgery be covered by aftercare?  Hopefully someone who has been through the same ordeal can give you some advice x

Im not sure how it works there, but your doctor should refer you for a scan to confirm it. Once the rupture is confirmed, its straight to your surgeon. What does you aftercare indicate? Hopefully you will be fully covered for and explant and replacement.

I've had them two years, mentor replace the implant but the surgery is at you own cost... Another thing, I was wondering, do you know of they would just take the one implant out or both? And if the recovery would be worse? Anybody else out there felt a rupture with cohesive implants? Full of questions, thanks girlies! X

Unless your Dr has X-ray vision it's IMPOSSIBLE for him to even suggest your implant/s are ruptured. 

The fact that you have a raised lymph node could indeed be linked to many health problems and to completely rule anything out and suggest it's your implants screams to me that you have a Dr that frowns upon women who choose to have Breast implants. I have one myself.

The ultrasound you're going to have IF you have a rupture aren't that great for detecting them, they very often miss ruptures so don't be surprised if they don't find much from the ultrasound if you get referred on to then have an MRI which is much more detailed. 

If a rupture is detected then it's entirely up you whether you'd like to change just the one implant or both, whilst you're alreeady paying for the theatre, the hospital, the surgeon. The meds, the cost of the other implant being replaced ontop of the price you'll pay will be minimal so I'd personally have both replaced. 

your recovery depends on the rupture. If you have a small tear that hasn't done much damage inside breast then they may well be able to do a straight replacement of one implant for another, maybe they would perform a capsulotomy just to expands the capsule and let your body renew the capsule. If this is the case the recovery will be very quick and with a low level of discomfort. 

At worst if the implant has ruptured and thre silicone has extended beyond the capsule and made quite a mess, then it's a big job for the surgeon to clean the Breast up. They will remove the implant with the entire capsule, this is called a capsulectomy and because the silicone has gone beyond the capsule it's possible some breat tissue would need to also be removed to get all the silicone out. 

If this were the case the recovery depends of the level of discomfort you'll feel and it can take as long as your primary Breast Augmentation to get over it...possibly longer.

Thanks, that's super helpful. The lump is in my cleavage on the right side, just above my scar, can you still get lymph node lumps there? I have the cohesive gel I thought they wouldn't spill out, you live and learn I guess!

Unfortunately yes, the silicone from ruptures can bleed beyond the capsule and can sometimes fill lymph nodes will silicone. Sometimes surgeons won't touch lymph nodes even if they are silicone filled...if someone has other health conditions like myself with an immune system that hates my body lol. Surgeons prefer to remove those and be rid of anything the body may react to. Xx
