cream for scars?
Do any of you put cream on your scars to help them heal or is it better to just leave them alone do you think?

I was told to put on savalon morning and night on mine, by the nurse when I had my dressings removed.

It's best not to put anything on them until you are instructed to do so. I was told at 6 weeks post op I could massage the scars with bio oil. i made sure nothing went on the scar area prior to this as they are so suceptable to infection until they are fully closed.
Re: cream for scars?
I was told by someone to break open a pure vit E capsule and use this, but will be asking my PS first when the bandages come off x

I wouldn;t do anything uless instructed by your own PS or nurse, you never know what would trigger an infection, go with what they say, not on anyone else's advice x

Re: cream for scars?
i would be very wary of trying anything without consulting my ps. Im noty sure whether all the creams work anyway...ive always been dubious about stuff like that x

i no that feeling my gp told me that although all this cream may work for the odd person i.e bio oil there is nothing that can guarentee it works for anyone and its just a waste of money when i was pregnant with ellie i used bio oil twice a day and my stretch marks were hurrendus!
i also got bit by a dog when i was 13 on my face and used bio oil daily for about a year as it was my face it did nothing, over time it has fadded and its not that visable anymore
just thought id post my story with regards to bio oil and products similar n my opinion its a waste of money xx
