Infection? Empty Infection?

Post by Julie123 16th May 2011, 11:08 am

This morning I noticed that I had a small peas sized lump at the end point of my stitches.

When I lifted my boob to have a proper look some pus and blood came out. It is really sore.

I rang my clinic and they have arranged to see me tomorrow but now I am really scared I have an infection and it is all going to go horribly wrong.

I'm at work waiting to see a client (where I have to be all smiley and nice) and can't stop crying.

Has anyone else had this and am I panicking over nothing?

I wouldn't worry hun. The clinic will probably take a look. Dress it and give you antibiotics just in case. It's not going to go horribly wrong.

Ok, thankyou.

Normally, I am really level headed and easy going. But I am really panicky at the moment over all this.

Think I am going to see to my one o clock appointment and take some sewing work home and take some time out.

Thanks girls the support on here is first class.xx

Have a secretion from your wound isn't an automatic indicator that you have an infection babe, so try not to worry, you might find the clinic would like to take a swap of the scretions to check for infection before giving antibiotics, some clinics choose not to and give you them anyway and if there's no reason at all for concern, your wound will simply be redressed and you'll be sent home, sometimes our bodies just release fluids that are of no concern at all babe, it's simply fluid and that's it.

You're gonna be fine hun and you've done absolutely the right thing in calling your clinic to be checked. xx

Like Cooks said, it could just be part of the healing process. Could be a stitch is irritating the skin and your body's trying to get rid of it. It also might be where the stitch was tied off, which makes sense as it's in the corner of the incision.

Honestly, try not to worry

Hi Cookie/ Roxy chick,

Great advice as always. I think it was a stitch from the corner as it all seems to have settled a bit now.

To be safe I am still going to be checked tomorrow even though it is a four hour round trip!!!

I also think I may have irritated the scar by working too soon. I have to carry fairly heavy bridal gowns and think basically I went back to work too soon. Not that I have much choice as it is my own business.
However, today I just thought actually my health is more important and as long as all my customers get there gowns on time, so I went home, took some hand sewing and slobbed on the sofa lol
Probably the best thing I have done in a long time apart from my BA!!!
