stitch has come through & a small hole appeared

i noticed what must be a stitch coming through a good few days ago now but this morning i have noticed a small hole (not near the stitch) as well. this wasnt there a couple of days ago and i think it may have something to do with the fact that i have smoked heavily for the past couple of days :-( will ring the surgeon tomorrow but how normal is it for stitches to start coming through and what do they do with them, just pull them out?

It could be a stitch and yeah probably will pull it out, i had my veins done three years ago and the cut they make in the groin, is where i had a tiny bit of the internal stitch showing, i just went to see the nurse at my gp and she just pulled it out.
I'm sure it will be fine ? did you start smoking again straight after your ba or did you not give up at all ?

i gave up for just over a month but this week has just been a nightmare so i started up again. but hopefully i had my last one this morning.

yes i did wonder if they would just 'pull it out' !

not at the minute no, not right time for me, i gave up for 16 yrs and started again

i had a stitch come through but 2 days later it had disappeared. must have worked its way out. when i asked surgeon he said to call clinic if it happened again. he did also say that although the stitches are supposed to dissolve within 6 weeks he and other surgeons have found the stitches up to 2 years later.

I haven't had my BA yet so can't help you at all except to say keep an eye on it and if it takes any turn or you are still concerned hen speak to your surgeon/PC. Lots of love Hun. Thinking of you as anything of a worrying nature is something we all desperately want to avoid. Big hugs. X

I had a stitch come through, it was never a hole, just if u pressed it there was a little bit of pain, the nurse took it out at my 4 week appointment and it has been fine. I also gave up smoking 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after, i have previously given up for 4 years but as i had to give up for my op, and it wasnt a choice, so to speak; i think that is why i wasnt able to keep it going. If you are really worried about infection and it will take too long to see your surgeon or nurse, give your GP a call, i did this when a scab came off with my bra and they were really good, got prescribed anti b's but he wasnt worried, just for precaution. It just sounds like you have a couple of stitches working their way out babe which is very normal.

Just call your clinic and arrange an appointment with the clinic nurse, she'll take a look for you and just snip the stitches if necessary. xx
