steri strips Empty steri strips

Post by mum23boys 11th November 2009, 10:56 am

When I had my 10 day check up SH put new steristrips on my incision sites and around the areolas, he said when they came off I could start massaging oil or moisturiser into the scars.

My question is how long should they stay on for?

They're showing no signs of wanting to fall off but I'm desperate to see what the scars look like (impatient - me - never steri strips 557141 ).

Dh thinks I should peel a corner loose and see if that encourages them to come off but I'm not sure if I should just wait it out.

When did your steri strips come off or when did you take the off?

I had them put on at my 1 week check and was told to leave them on til I was 10 days. I was nervous of taking them off so left them on until I was 15 days. I just soaked them and they come off pretty easily then. I've had no problems since and scars healing nicely x

I went for my 2 week check up and had them put on but my surgeon said to leave them on for 2 days and then take them off and start moisturising. I left them on for 4 days just to make sure and then peeled them off and they were fine xxx

At my one week appointment they told me to keep them on for 5 days (day 12 in total). Nurse said to me to just get in the bath and soak them and they should come off easily enough xx

Aw!! Mine were removed after one week and micropore tape put on (skin colour) as usual all different. Personally I would call and get the answer from the surgeon.

The nurse took off my plasters from the op after 10 days and put steri strips on. She said i could shower, and peel them off in the shower when they were wet. she then said I should hairdry the area after and not rub with towel.. Then re apply the strips. She gave me a packet of the strips but when i got home i realised there was only enough for 3 days in the packet..was wondering myself how long im supposed to have them on for? but it seems everyone has been told differently! i will be 13 days post op tommorrow.
