M&S Fitting Empty M&S Fitting

Post by Zum_Boobs 28th April 2015, 9:13 pm

So I nipped into M&S today after a new high impact sports bra, got chatting to the women on the department and turns out she was a post-op bra specialist! lol She was SO lovely and really helpful. I explained that surgeon wanted me to stay well support until the 6 week mark (currently 3 weeks post) and she took me to be fitted as I hadn't a clue!
Currently a 34E in their total support non-wired bras, and it really is supportive! only £18 as well! I made sure I told the lady on the till to pass on how pleased I was with the service =)

M&S Fitting Empty Re: M&S Fitting

Post by Charlii 28th April 2015, 9:24 pm

I don't want to poop on your parade, but you don't look a 34. You're only diddy! And if the band isn't fitting right, you're not getting the support. M&S are not specialists, and often negate a proper fitting in lieu of a sale.

At 3wk your swelling should be all gone. I'd get a tape measure and check your true band size. Straight across the back and dont add anything (e.g. I measure 31", wear 32, and I'm a 5'8" 10/12). This'll give you an idea. I would say you're more likely a 30FF than 34E

This FEELS tight and supportive but I was shocked when she said 34 in all honesty. She did make it clear, in their sizes. 31" is what hubs just measured me at so should be in 32" band...hmm

M&S are rubbish at fitting. You're not a 34 no way, you look a 30 or 32. Bravissimo are the best for fitting x

"in their sizes" is bs, another sales ploy. If it feels tight and supportive, stick with it for now, but once you're all clear definitely get to a Bravissimo or a Lingerie specialist.

You'd be surprised actually how tight a bra band needs to be. When you've got nothing to support, you don't really think about it, but actually once you're in a properly fitting bra, it'll feel weird and tight at first, but soon you'll forget its even there.

Hi zum there is no way you are a 34 , I'm a 32 and im in the correct band size. Your smaller than me. Go to boux avenue or bravissimo if you can. The wrong band size does you no favours as that's where the support is. I'm just repeating on what's said above. Sometimes cup sizes differ in different shops but band size is a band size. Xxxx

M&S Fitting Empty Re: M&S Fitting

Post by Twinky 29th April 2015, 6:39 am

This intrigues me, I cant wait to get properly measured after my ba.
I have only ever been measured at M&S as don't have a bravissimo where I live, and I was measured as a 34b.

Dr Sleiter measured me on Sunday (without a bra on) and said im a 32a.
32 sounded just nuts, but im dying to try a 32 band on with my new cup size. My 34 does ride up a lot but just put it down to there not being anything in it to 'hold it down' if you get me?
But yep, im guessing its cos its actually FAR too big! LOL

Hell I even have some 36 bands...!

It certainly makes a massive difference to be in the right band size. I was wearing a 32 and now a 30! It's weird because, you get use to how tight and supportive they are, then you put a 32 on and it's like no no no how did I wear that before! Boux Avenue put me in a 32DD and I said the back was far too loose and the cup was so tight... I think that may have been a one off bad fitter though because other women have said how good they are. x

Thanks ladies! I don't have anything else near me (small town issues), but at 6week point I'll be making a trip to Birmingham where I know there is a boux avenue and a Victoria secret (What are they like for sizing?)

Boux are suppose to be good. I had a crap fitting.. They put me in a 32DD and it was just wrong from all angles!
But everyone else seems to think they're great so it may have been the lady I got.

No experience with Victoria secret! Xx

Boux are hit and miss, I had a great fitting in London. VS are a fashion store, so not great, plus they don't really do a great range of sizes. Their DDD is equivalent to an E, but I think that's the biggest they go.

Once you're all healed up, you can go to a couple of places and get a feel for how a bra is supposed to fit you (john lewis are meant to be good too). Then you can go to any store and fit yourself.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], I used to be in 36's because according to the old ways, 31+5=36band. it was constantly riding up, and like you I assumed it was because nothing was in them holding it down! Turns out it was just massively too big! A band should sit straight and stay straight.

I had a really good experience at m&s but I think its highly dependent on the fitter. Also, if you have a good knowledge of now something should it helps.

Can I just say, I'm 26.5 inches, but a 28 is way too tight anywhere I shop. I wear a 30, but always 32 in a sports bra as the 30s are just too tight x

Bras are like clothes you may be a different size in different brands , in Freya bras the 30 band fits like a glove but in M&S I have to get a 32 band as the 30 is way too tight. Enjoy your jaunt to Bravissamo they'll soon have you in the right size, the fitters there are fab!
