Day 3
I'm on day 3 today and still in agony. I feel like I've got knives stuck under my armpits and through my nipples!when I left the hospital i was on 1 codeine every 6 hours which has been upped to 3 now. Everyone I spoke to said it's not painful, just uncomfortable. I must say I've found it to be horrendously painful. I just really wanted some reassurance that it will get better. How days does it take before the pain starts to subside?

Re: Day 3
Hi hun,
Sorry to hear you're not feeling the best
Although I didn't suffer too badly with pain I did notice a definite turning point from day 4 onwards. Just keep on top of your meds and don't be a hero, if you want to just lay and nap do it! (If you can!)
Hope you start to feel better soon. Hugs xxx

Re: Day 3
Thanks ladies.
I feel better today. Slept propped up in my own bed last night instead of the sofa and got quite a good nights sleep. Painkillers were due at 3am and I didn't wake up until 4.30 so I must be on the mend. Only really have pain when I put the band on so not wearing it too much (spoke to the nurse yesterday and she said it should be ok until I see her on Thursday when she can have a look) and I'm even contemplating getting dressed tomorrow!
So yeah, feeling a lot more positive today and grateful for your replies. Hope you're all feeling good too, x
Ps. Hope your wrist isn't giving you too much grief Sharon, x

Hey squidgy, really shocked you are in so much pain. It sounds like things r getting better for you, imagine with such intense swelling it the bands too tight that's where the pain is coming from. Poor you, can u not ask to talk to your surgeon if ur that uncomfortable? Thy could maybe giv u something stronger for the pain, r u using ice packs too? X

Re: Day 3
Im not going to lie, days 3-5 are the worst. The GA is leaving your system and it can get very painful. Plus the emotions start coming through, you're tired from not sleeping properly...Its going to be rough! But most women find a turning point around day 5. It'll get better, I promise.
Is it a compression band or a full on band? i.e just a couple inches wide? Mine was awful for the first week because my surgeon put it on wrong and didn't show me how I should be wearing it. Pull it straight across your back where your bra strap would sit, then up and over. It'll be a lot more comfortable and not chaff into your arms so much. It should be firm, but not suffocating.

Re: Day 3
I found day 5 a real turning point for me. I was in a lot of pain the first 3 days plus I was throwing up from the GA. I even had a little cry thinking why on earth did I put myself through this.
From day 5 each day gets so much easier. Xx
