Doctor's letter..
Hi girls, I have just found a letter Highgate gave me when i was discharged and they told me to give it to my doctor.. 13 months later i just had a nose and it just says stuff like what ops I had, my BP/pulse/resp/temp etc when i was discharged, and at the end it says "Pt to arrange own OPA" What is this?! And do I need to give this letter to my doc? x

Hi BB!!
'Patient to attange Own Outpatient Appointment. Is explanation of abbrev. The letter is to let your G.P. know about your op. mainly for any future concerns to have on your medical records. There is no obligation to inform G.P. if you prefer not to.
Hope that helps. xx

Re: Doctor's letter..
Ah thanks Mia.. I thought it was just to inform my GP of my ops but I was thinking then that the nosey miserable receptionists would know about it when they tap me up on their screens.. x

Yes that is true BB!! All in surgery will know!! Depends how you feel about sharing, and the relationship with G.P. It is a safeguard for yourself to inform him. But I understand, we dont always feel comfortable sharing personal details. xx

Re: Doctor's letter..
I dont mind my GP/'s (there are 2) knowing at all but that would mean it appearing on the screen when nosey receptionists tap me up for appointment/test result etc etc. And i dont want them knowing x

Would it come up on the screen or would they just put the notes in with your file?
Can the receptionists access you medical file?! I hope not!

I dont know, thats what i was wondering. If its just put in my file (paper one) and its for the doctors eyes only then thats ok. But if its tapped up on my computer records and them nosey people can see it, then noo.
