My nurse recommend i buy a scar management treatment called new gel specifically designed silicone patches for cosmetic post operative care there is a website for these if you wish to google it. Has anyone else used them or know if they are any good or is bio oil helpful? As i think this is my main fear the scars :( xx

I left my first scars alone and didnt even put a bit of moisturiser on them. absolutely nothing! and they healed amazingly well.

You can see my 1st scars at 21/2 years post-op [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

My next scars I had trouble with and tried everything on them. From Bio-Oil to spending a fortune on Cica-Care silicone scar sheets. Nothing made my scars better.

I personally think if you're going to scar well, you will. If not, it doesn't hurt to try, but I found nothing works and would save your money unless you actually needed to spend on scar treatments. Xx

I should add that I used moisturiser (Palmers cocoa butter) rather than scar treatments. It's important to break the scar tissue down when you get the all clear and the moisturiser just makes it easier to use that circular motion required to massage them. Xx

I bought some strips to use on mine but am not going to bother as mine are 5 weeks old and you can barely see them! My ps told me to moisturise them after 2 weeks so I do that occasionally but otherwise am leaving them well alone...
Good luck!x

I rub in bio oil, it has worked already as one had a lumpy bit and it has broken down , one side is fiercer looking then the other. They are maroon coloured but thin and not too long and neat .
