Thermography - an alternative to mammograms!!
Hi girls -
I put this under General BA because so many of us are concerned (or one day will be) with getting a mammogram and its effectiveness after a BA.
My mother introduced me to "thermography", which can detect cancer up to 10 years earlier than a mammogram and doesn't sqash your boobies at all in the process.
Interested? Here's a link. Although you can find out a bunch more by googling :)

Thank you, my PS told me about this at my consultation and you can also get infra red scanning, due to my mother passing away from secondary breast cancer detecting it with implants was a concern for me...

I'll have a read of that Alexandra, having a mammogram is one thing that I do worry about. I've been told that they use a different machine for ladies with implants, but I'm not sure how it's different from the normal machine. xx

Re: Thermography - an alternative to mammograms!!
I worry too, but honestly by the time a mammogram catches cancer it's farther along that thermography would have caught. Cancer cells give off a different "heat" than healthy cells and so they show up a different color - even if it's microscopic piece of cancer. Then they can just take it right out. Unlike a mammogram where if they find something some insurers won't treat you they'll insist on a mastectomy (because the cancer may be too big or they just don't want to spend the money trying to treat).
It's a horrible business - especially in the US, I'm sad to say.

I was just thinking about that today. My girlfriend was diagnosed with breast cancer at 33. Scary stuff and all I've been worrying about is my implants!
