Agony. Pulling stitch? Empty Agony. Pulling stitch?

Post by springstep123 1st July 2011, 5:59 am

Hello, am now 2 days post op, and in agony... whenever i move there's a focal point at the edge of the sar on the right that feels like I'm being stabbed. I can no longer lift my right arm up more than about 30 degrees and in severe agony trying do so anything other than sit still. Does it sound like it could be a pulling stitch? Or maybe a haematoma? I will probably call my surgeon's secretary but wondered if anyone had had this. It's awful.

I agree with Nicola... I experience this in
My right breast at the side of my incision and was so scared it was my incision bleeding and ripping. But when I called the clinic I was assured it wernt.

As for haematoma...I was told off by the nurses as I
Kept checking myself and asking them
Y wernt they checking my whole boobs when
Doing my obs. But springstep... Seriously ul know. Plus...it's day two
U r gonna get pains which scare u and take your breath away but remember it's healing and the nerves are slowly
Being connected together.

Sorry if this doesnt make sense...doctor!!! Hehe
No but remember you are only two days...ring the hosp fir reassurance if need be. Xx

hey thanks so much for your advice. Gosh I'd convinced myself it was a stitch but the pain really is more internal than that.. it's just weird it's so focal when the other side is just a more general ache. I have called my surgeon's secretary, she'll call back, and I expect agree with you. At least I won't have to have a stitch taken out or something. Just annoying as I can't use my right arm much because of it.

Thanks again!

It could also be a nerve that causing the pain sweetness, lots of women do experience this and it does very much effect the arm movement. Good news is it does settle down though.

If you're very concerned you could call your clinic and have them check you over sweetheart, even if it's just for peace of mind. Agony. Pulling stitch? 571992

I had this too in my right incision scar, my nurse told me it's just likely the surgeon did more prodding n pulling around on that side n it's internal bruising taking longer to heal. It's still very tender to touch but has got better over the last 2 days.
Hope u feel better soon x

still in agony, was awake a lot in the night, it definitely feels like nerve pain. I really hope it does settle and I'm not going to get chronic neuropathic pain :( I just can't do anything as it's so severe

Keep the pain meds going sweetheart, if you need to use an alarm to enable you to take your meds regularly then do that hun, it makes all the difference to how the meds works, taking them regularly at the right time will keep the strength of analgesia topped up all the time.

I'm presuming you'll be having another check up soon? Be sure you mention the pain you're experiencing hun and that it's noted, if it's still there by then.

Nerve pain is awful! I have it myself hun, it usually does settle down though as the swelling subsides, hopefully the next few days as you get more mobile will make all the difference to you. Agony. Pulling stitch? 571992
