good morning ladies...just about on my way for my pre-op in stoke-on-trent...only 6 days to go now and getting pretty excited Bum Wiggle

i have an armful of questions and a bra full of nothing Hysterical

to take with me...will let you know if i pass the fitness test Dr Lurve

hi, i'm back and all went well....tho not too happy that cos i'm funded i have to go on a 70 bed ward. Shocked

....wow 70!!!!!!!!! a mixed one too, which means i cant have anyone with me and i will have to keep quiet about what i'm getting done as dont want all those men. bursting their stitches trying to see my new boobs....i know i cant complain but i was'nt expecting 70 beds. Shocked

.....hope they give me the right op and dont take my appendix out or something......i come from wales so a ward with 70 beds is HUGE to me......do they usually have wards with 70 beds?????? the nurse was laughing cos my jaw hit the floor when she told me......wow 70 beds!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when i went in the nurse asked me loads of health questions then i asked her loads of questions i had taken with me.
next i was weighed, then had my height measured...i had to do two swabs for mrsa one up my nose and one between my legs on some long worded thing...she said its the bit you tear when you have a baby...so i wiped the swab everywhere cos i had loads of stitches Hysterical

then she did a blood test and that was it,

i think maybe i had a blood test as i have an over-active thyroid and on meds for it, and maybe the smear for mrsa is because it is in a general hospital as my op is on the nhs...i know before on my pre-op i only got weighed..so maybe this is new at this hospital, i actually had a needle in both arms as she missed the vein first time, so i was'nt too amused....i wonder if anyone else has been tested for mrsa then?

Good luck with it all. I don't think you will even notice the beds - I wouldn't I would be too busy feeling pleased about my new boobies!!!! :)

Hey babe - yeah I got the mrsa swab too. charming but necessary! no smear though - although she did ask me when I had last had one and it was about 5 months ago anyway.
I couldn't agree more with Miss Ellie - 70 beds is a hotel?!! That does seem busy?! I hope you get some rest - and some privacy to keep peeking at your new boobs!!

i never had an actual smear, it was part of the mrsa scanning, had to do 2 swabs..did you just have the swab up your nose then? glad you had one too i was getting a bit worried why it was just me!

Hopefully you'll have some strong painkillers etc so you won't notice too much and you'll be sleepy from the GA. I do remember when I was on a ward last year overnight it was SO noisy tho, maybe some earplugs wd be good.......? I really didn't get any sleep mainly cos the nurses were so blinking loud!

Anyway that's great you're funded tho - good luck x

hi ladies....from what i can gather, i'm on the 70 bed ward pre-op and then will be transferred to a smaller ward post-op as the 70 one is just day surgeries, but yeh bbd, think i may take my rollerskates Hysterical

decided i will pass the time by figuring out what each patient is in for...by the time i get round the other 69 i figured it would be time for me to go down to theatre, it certainly wont be a lonely day anyway. better put my best smile on as you never know who may be in the bed beside me Blush

being as its a mixed ward.
just hope i can get to watch eastenders and holby city in the evening Rolling Eyes

wow...watching holby with boobs...cant wait Hysterical
