solarium! Empty solarium!

Post by bambi<3 24th February 2011, 4:31 am

hi everyone

I've never used a solarium but want to get my tan up probably only use it twice just to get a base tan... I had a breast lift breast augmentation 2 weeks ago and am just wearing steri strips over my scars, im healing great. Just wondering when I could go use the solarium and if its ok to just have steri strips over the scars or should i tape some gauze on or something haha or wear a boob tube!? : ) anyone used the solarium this early? thanks a million x

You should cover the whole boob area this soon after a BA my love as the skin is stretched and therefore liable to burn and also you dont want your scars healing dark.

Think advice is to avoid for 6 weeks after op I manager about 5 then went on covering boobs then just gradually shrunk coverage down till i was just covering scars now i just go on with nothing

Agree with Janey. Keep the whole area covered or you'll be at risk of some nasty burns. x

Sorry hun but I agree with the others I would not go on until you are at least 6 wks post op and even then you should cover the whole scar area for up to a year after your op because the UV rays can make scarring go really dark and this pigmentation that can occur is permanent.

Don't get me wrong I am not against sunbeds, i go on now and again but you need to be careful with newly scarred skin xxx

I went on after 2 weeks, didn't see any reason to wait really?

But it is extremely important to cover whole boob area at first, and keep your scars covered completely, I still cover mine now at 5 months post op and will continue till a year at least.

I've had another thought, maybe the 6 weeks is to do with sweating and your scars may not be completely closed yet.... if you've still got steri strips on your scars its probably too soon. x

I was worrying about this but now that I have read this I have now bought (I know its far in advance) a boob tube bra which will cover!

I want to be tan when I take my new boobies out in a few months :-D

Yes I think the heat and sweating etc could be a risk of infection. It's better to be safe than sorry during those weeks where you are at risk of infection.
