Can i have a bath yet?
Hi ladies,
Im 12 days post op and wondered if i would be able to have a bath yet instead of showering all the time! I was told no bathing while i had my steri strip on but now its off im wondering if its ok. I do have an area under my breast where it doesn't seem to have fully healed yet (scabbed up still) so im a bit worried about catching an infection. Wondering if i can get in and out quick......hmmm? How long did everyone else wait before bathing?
I do miss relaxing in my bath

Re: Can i have a bath yet?
I was not allowed until 6 weeks due to the risk of infection. My advice would be not to until you scars have fully closed. I would also check with Transform, but I think in general they say 6 weeks for bathing/swimming
Re: Can i have a bath yet?
I was allowed after a week but you can't soak til you're fully closed up otherwise you could get infection in there and stop it healing. It's best to check with your clinic really. xx

Re: Can i have a bath yet?
I had shallow baths from Day 3 - but very careful not to get dressings wet. This was allowed until I had my 4 week check up by which time all the scabs had come off naturally and the incision lines had all completely closed up - and then I was allowed to have a full bath (it was luxury) but I was told, even then not to lie and soak for too long (I couldn't resist 10 minutes though :heehee: )

Re: Can i have a bath yet?
I could have shallow baths from Day 3 hun (I don't have a proper shower either, just one of those that you attach to the bath taps). How soon you can have a proper bath (i.e where you can lie back and relax) depends on when your nurse or surgeon tells you that you can have one, but 4 to 6 weeks seems to be the normal waiting time.

Re: Can i have a bath yet?
I had my strapping off two weeks after op and i then went in the bath the same day. i was told that i could wash but not to submerge my boobies/scars for too long. Its the technique for getting out of the bath thats the best!, not trying to push with your arms.
When sat on your bum, turn onto your side with one leg bent more than the other and try to turn yourself over onto your knees. Its hard at first as you think your boobs are going to fall off, lol. Enjoy!! x

Yup! .. I was still a bit paranoid that they would get wet .. bring on the days of long baths with bath bombs & candles, glass of wine.. lushness!
