post op bra

Ok girls this thread has probably been done a million times but i now need to buy the post op bra's and im gonna need a black and a white for work.

Everyone on here has said macoms come up small bt i would like one for when the swelling goes down at first to wear for work.

Think im gonna be a 34dd so im thinking medium bt worried it them might be too small.

But initially im nt sure what im gonna need im a 34c/d at the min and having 420cc unders, my first surgeon said get dd's

So im thinking 34 and 36 dd's

Do i need any others do you think?

Also can you guys recommend which ones to get that arnt going to leave me compleatly skint lolol!! :)

I still neeed to buy my pillow castle

Alot of women recommend superstore own brand sports bras, but I personally don't think you gain the support needed from these during your early pot-op recovery. The M&S zip up front high impact bra is about £19 but well worth the money for those. Many women also rate the Lonsdale high impact bras and I think they come fairly reasonable??

Any 'High Impact' impact bra will do, so if you find a bargain of that kind, it should be just fine hun.

The 34 and 36 DDs should be just fine to take with you hun, but ;ike zthomas says, it would probably be best to leave the labels on and keep receipts of any you don't use so you can return for a refund if they aren't needed. xx

i ordered a macom in one size bigger than i am as i thought if i have to sleep in it i dont want it cutting me in half, i m still pre ba but have tried the macom on and although it is a size bigger than i would normally get its quite snug and comfy i just hope its as comfy when its full of boob! but so far i m pleased with it and it might be an idea to get one just in case the specificly sized bras dont fit at least u ll have something supportive that fits until you feel upto going to the shops xxx

I was a 34 band but got the large in the macom for comfort,it fitted nicely ,not too tight underneath,it was worth buying,wore it for 6 weeks on and off then sold it on ebay for 18 quid !!!x

I'm a 32DD and my surgeon put me in a medium Macom after my op. Not sure if that helps. Maybe if you're a 34 now a large would be better for the swelling in the first few weeks?

I also really like the Lonsdale sports bras but as Cookie says they don't offer much support so I wouldn't recommend that at the start, but maybe for a few weeks after when the pain has gone.

Only thing with the m&s one is that it doesn't have adjustable straps...Ot sits perfectly with me but You know I'm a short **naughty word** and you're really tall?? So you'd def need to try them first or buy extras I'm different brands just in case.

Alice recommended the Shock Absorber Run to me, which is by far the best I've had and I bought loads. Loads of support, great adjustability so can alter it as your boobs change and gives a decent shape from
the side (as good as possible in a sports bra!!) I got one of mine second hand off eBay, and another on sale in John Lewis. X

I also recommend the Shock Absorber Run bra, although i could only start wearing sports bras from 4 weeks post op (had to wear only a binder), so im not sure how comfy they are to wear straight after your op. Also, they have an odd sort of clasp thing to fasten at the back, above the normal fastening, which is awkward. Its easier to fasten it first, then slip it over your head, then fasten the normal hook and eye but i couldnt even lift my arms properly for about 2 weeks with my unders , so again you may struggle a little.

I tried the M&S zip front one but as wishful said, it doesn't have adjustable straps so they were a bit too small/short on me.

Have a look at this one from M&S as well, same price as the zipped up one:

I have a bra called cereplas, they do it with or without the strap on top. My surgeon bought it for me and i'm not sure if it's just in france but it might be worth checking ebay. It has bra style hooks on the front which is great for when the swelling goes down and you can adjust the straps.
I also bought a Z Bra but at a tiny 5ft 2 it was still very high on my back because the straps were so short and non adjustable, very strange!

I used the asda sports bras and also a Z bra (post surgery bra) and I got on well with both.

Ok ive measured my ribcage and it 33.5 so im thinking i should get the large 36 bra for post op??

i used a Asda post op Bra they are comfy and look nice too but for the the first week i had to get a bigger size around i am a 34 but i went to a 36 untill swelling went down....
i also got a shock absorber sports bra....but i find it almost to restricting and a bit painful....but i do keep wearing it on and off...

i just coudnt afford a macom bra... nope

I bought the m&s one that ice cream had linked but I literally cannot get it on without over stretching.
Although it has a bra clasp you have to get it on over the head as the racer-back bit doesn't undo. Once over your head you have to pull down and would have to be able to either squash your boobs or stretch out the material to fit over your swollen chest.
I'm taking mine back as I not find it suitable for post op unless you have help

I have got lots if different ones in various sizes to be on the safe side, I have one macom, one m&s, one Asda, one Tesco, one zip up one from lauredoute and a primark and one from eBay. I didn't want to chance not having the right one! Lol xxx
