Can you please tell me how the pecs are affected when implants are moved from sub-muscular to sub-glandular?

Many thanks, Contessina x

I'd love to know too... I asked my Ps and he was just like ' they go over the top and its fine'.... I tried asking if they go stretchy and saggy and it really damages them but he just said its not harmful and i'll be ok....

Would love to know more, a bit late now but ah well!

see that's what I was thinking.. perhaps they've been stretched and will go saggy when Implants changed?? Maybe there'll be no decent foundation behind the implant when changed to sub-glandular?? Will they be tightened by the surgeon?? So many q's!! I hope Mr JP comes along soon :)

p.s hope you are recovering well Steph x

i think i read somewhere that the surgeon has to stitch the opening closed when the implant is removed although we will wait and see what jp says!

HI
Sorry to have kept you waiting on the answer to this - it depends really on how big the original implants were and how much muscle release was performed and if a total capsulectomy is performed at the time of reseating the implants. If you think about what happens in pregnancy, the tummy muscles are stretched, and as long as the baby isnt too big then they recoil back and this is exactly the same with the pectoral muscle. The muscle has a long attachment and usually only a small area is detached for implant insertion, so the function can return to normal. If a total capulectomy is performed the muscle will stick down on the ribs again, if not the capsule will usually remain present between muscle and ribs but not really cause any problem here.

Hope that was useful !
