Quick question
I just wondered if you could put my mind at rest, I had BA almost 18 months ago, and all has been fine. However a couple of weeks ago I felt a lump in my left side. I have been to the doctor and breast clinic to make sure it was nothing horrible and thankfully its not. On the scan she gave me she showed me its the edge of my implant.
Is this normal to be able to feel the edge after 18 months?? Not been able to feel it before and I cant feel it on the other side. I dont mind being able to feel it if I know its not something going wrong?
Any info will be greatly received!!!

Re: Quick question
Hello there. I always warn my patients that they may feel their implant if they feel around the breast during self examination. Just like before an op you can feel a rib under the breast, after you can often feel an implant. You have done the sensible thing and had a scan to exclude a breast lump or implant rupture which is always reassuring. Why the change now? Well as Nikitaw says often this is related to other changes in the breast - the fatty part can change with weight fluctuations, and the glandular part with hormonal changes related to age, hormones such as hrt or the contraceptive pill, or just gravitational changes of the breast over time. Implants also settle into positions and the normal capsule that surrounds and implant can occasionally distort things a little over time. If it isn't painful or troubling you cosmetically then I would sit tight and not worry about it. Discuss it with your surgeon if it becomes a problem to you. Hope that helps !

Yes thank you, I have been more than a little concerned, but can rest easy now.
