On your profile you'll see a tab called Friends and Foes.

To add a friend, just type their username.

To add a foe, type their username. This will mean that you cannot recieve PMs from them or see their posts.

You'll see a message similar to this:

xxx has posted this message. They are currently on your foes list. To view the message click here.

If you're friends with the girls you regularly chat to, when you PM instead of typing their name there is a drop down box... you just select the name from there!

The only downside to this is that it doesn't send a message to whoever you have asked to be friends with, you have to PM each one manually and ask them to accept you as a friend.
It would be lovely if the forum software did this automatically for you.
