help please 2 stage breast surgery confused
I have asymmetrical breasts and am looking into having breast surgery.
I am currently 32a on the right( this side is also tubular) and the left is smaller than that and would like to go to a full C or small D.
I have been to the Harley Medical group and saw only a nurse she said my procedure would be straight forward just requiring 2 different size implants.
But I decided to go and see another company for second opinion.
I went to see a surgeon today from My Breast who has told me I will need a 2 stage procedure. He said I don't have enough tissue so he said I will need a operation to fit a inflatable implant.
I am really confused about the whole thing. I am thinking about getting another appointment to see a different surgeon, to see if I can have just one procedure as I am really nervous about operations as I have never had one before.

Hi Hun, I noticed u are in Kent? Would u consider going to east grinstead for ur op? If so I would recommend the McIndoe Centre. May be worth having a consultation there. I have just had a great experience there. Def worth getting a few opinions Though xxx

I would suggest seeing another surgeon also... I'm not sure if the surgeons are still around?!
But Special K above has just had a BA in Kent and her results are amazing so maybe it's worth meeting her surgeon also to see what he says?
It is very confusing when you start the consultation process and surgeons will sometimes recommend different procedure but hopefully you will find the man for the job soon :) xx

I would definatly advise you see another surgeon. Sometimes, expanders are needed before a BA. Although I don't hear of it happening very often. Make an appointment with another surgeon hun, and just see what he/she says. I too would recommend my surgeon, but it needs to be someone YOU feel comfortable with, not me.
You don't have to limit yourself, see as many surgeons as you need to, until you find "the one", sounds daft, but you really do know the one when you meet them x good luck, do keep us updated x

Re: help please 2 stage breast surgery confused
For the surgery you're looking to have you'd be best having a consultation with a BAAPS member. The Harley Med dont use these surgeons, but I'd very much advise you see one lovely. They really are at top of their game and for a technical procedure such as an uplift you're going to be wanting a surgeon who is just that.
You can locate BAAPS surgeons in your area HERE just click on the location where you are and then click the names of the surgeons. All BAAPS members have held a consultant position within the NHS for at least 6 years. Are on the specialist register for plastic surgery and have a FRCS qualification.
When you click the names it will list the surgeons qualifications and will tell you were you can locate them. Xx

Hi manzin, I had mine done at the Mcindoe centre in east grinstead with roger smith. He does work privately and can have follow ups in Maidstone or tunbridge wells. If u book through the McIndoe centre(which was fab btw!) u will get the procedure cheaper than through him directly as they offering discount at mo. just google Mcindoe and book through them. The fee was £90 but my consultation very thorough and well worth it.
Where in Kent are u Hun? I'm Maidstone and was only 50 min drive to Mcindoe. They have loads of consultants there. Mr perira was also recommended to me by my doctor and he is based there too.
Good luck on ur research xxxx

Re: help please 2 stage breast surgery confused
Hi manzin, it was so weird as I had few nerves but really honestly trusted my surgeon and liked him so much that put me at ease 100%. I tried not think about the actual op itself as is major head spin, had a wobble just before went under as lovely nurse held my hand and was being too nice to me but managed not to cry and just talk crap take deep breaths and the going under part happens without u even realising.
It's so important u do it research so u feel happy with what u actually having done and who with and then u should cope better. I had my mum with me which helped massively so someone for support is always good!
U have got this forum to air all ur little niggles and concerns too Hun. There will be someone else out there with same concerns as u and u can chat to them at how u overcome them.
I'll happily answer anything u want to know!!! Xxx

Re: help please 2 stage breast surgery confused
You'll be fine Manzin. The staff at the hospital are very kind and so, so considerate of those like yourself who are a more nervous person. They deal with patients just like you all the time lovely and honestly will look after you to the point that if you make them aware of how nervous you are they will add some numbing cream to your hand before theatre, so you won't feel anything at all
Re: help please 2 stage breast surgery confused
Thank you I am feeling much better. I have found a surgeon 5 min drive away from me so I am trying to arrange an appointment with him, as my breast haven't got back to me. then if he a no go I will try Special K's surgeon :)

Re: help please 2 stage breast surgery confused
hi girls
not been on here in a while sorry been really busy with work.
I had my consultation today with John Davidson, really pleased with what he had to say. He didn't mention 2 procedure surgery which is good, and happy for me to go up to a D cup so very pleased.
Now waiting for a email next week to let me know the costs. :)
