Funding Approved!! Yay!! (Finally!)
Just to let all you girls going through the rather painful and stressful battle of applying for funding, that keep going and keep strong. Its almost a year now since I first went and saw my GP with regards to how awful my boobs are and now Im sat here, literally ecstactic, that my funding has FINALLY been approved.
Its long, its hard and alot of the time you feel like your massively banging your head against a brick wall, and all the waiting they make you do for the tiniest bit of info is agony, BUT, KEEEEEEPP GOING. It's so so so so so worth it.
Good lock to any of you other girls waiting on outcomes of applications.....I definately know how you feel, so thinking of you. Xxx

Really pleased for you Louise!
I've got my tissue expander in at the moment so just ask if there is anything you want to know about that. Haven't had my first top up yet but will be having it soon.
Huge congrats x

Thanks for the congrats girls. Im absoulutely over the moon.
How painful is the expander bigandsmall?? Have you had an implant in the other side to compare pain to? Cause I know sars had a few problems with hers, but looking at other stories some women are fine. Also, is it 6 weeks you have to wait until your first top op?
At the minute I've worked out that to go through my surgeons waiting list, it will co-incide with 2 days before my final exams.....problematic! Did you have much choice with choosing date wise, or do you just get what your given? I feel like I can't really complain cause they're doing it in the first place, but obviously a few days before my exams would be massively inconvienient.

Re: Funding Approved!! Yay!! (Finally!)
Hi Louise
I havent found the pain as bad as Sarah did, but I have only had the expander in one side. Also, she got capsular contracture, so not sure how much of her pain was to do with that. Also, I think it partly depends on how much they top you up with each time, which depends on how quickly they want to get you to full size, and also how big you want to go. I've had a week off from lifting the kids and am feeling ok now, just a bit tight.
They seem to vary how long you wait for your first top up. My surgeon inflated it in the op when he put it in, and I'm waiting about 8 weeks til the first increase. Sometimes I think they even do it after just a few weeks.
I actually gave up waiting for the NHS - I'd still be waiting for the panel decision on funding! If you want to put the date back a bit I'm sure they'll understand though, as there will be someone else who'll just get seen a little earlier, in your slot, I bet.
