1st Consult on Monday! :S
Hey Ladies,
I've got my first consult with the plastic surgeon on monday and good lord im getting nervous, I very much almost don't want to go! To any of you who have been through this on the NHS what can I expect? My GP just looked at my boobs and went 'Ohh' and then referred me.
Can I expect a DEFINATE yes or no? If I do get a yes will he give me options, or will he decide what he's going to do? (because its the NHS I assume I'll have less choice?)
Ahhhh im horribly scared! Why can't this just be magically fixed!

Hey!! I had my first NHS consult at the end of Aug, it really isnt that bad dont worry. You have to get 'them' out and the consultant will measure them and have a look at them, check they are healthy etc. Check your medicalhistory/family history etc, mine then basically told me what she was going to do and use and whether i was ok with that and then booked me in for my op. I had my funding pre-approved for my op so the decision had already been made, not sure how it works anywhere else though. Hope it goes ok for you hun and dont stress too much, it'll be fine xxxxx

i felt the same. the thought having someone look at you is heartbreaking.
i am in scotland so we dont have a primary care trust to go through, its just down to the surgeon. he asked me sone general questions like why i didnt like them, what i wanted to change and then ask for a look. he had a look, a wee feel, took some measurements and explained what he would do. i had to see a
phsychologist to to make sure i was fit for surgery.
i got very large breasts when pregnant and showed my surgeon this so he tried to get me back to that. i suppose i was lucky as it ment i got a larger implant than normal.
please dont feel to nervous, this is the start of the rest of your life, trust me its worth it xx

Re: 1st Consult on Monday! :S
Just got back from my consult with good and bad news.
Good - Its a definate yes cause my boobs are so messed up.
Bad - Diagnosed with left hyopmastia and tubular breast syndrome. I didn't even realise I had it but apparently im a 'classic' case . Im going to need 3, YES 3, ops and its going to take at least a year to sort everything out. Need tissue expanders in both boobs and a implant in one (left) and an implant, fat graft and uplift on the right (the one that I thought was fine is apparently is even more fecked!)
Hoo - bloody - rah.

Just wanted to say hang in there. Really pleased you got a yes. And glad they are willing to spend the time it takes to get them just right in the end x

Hiya Louise, it's great news that they've agreed to the surgery, it sounds like it could be a long haul, but I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end hunni. Don't give up.
