Stats/Rates of Revision Surgery Empty Stats/Rates of Revision Surgery

Post by *Sally* 18th August 2009, 8:14 pm

With all this talk of reops (and obviously since I've had one myself) it got me thinking how common revision surgery due to complications early on in the healing process actually is. I've just spent the last half an hour trawling through sites on Google but can't find any info other than relatively historic FDA papers about old style implants being replaced within 5-10 years.

From what my PS told me the new style implants are far less likely to need replacing over a lifetime (although he stressed that this was not guaranteed) so naturally the percentages in new studies over a longer period of time are likely to be lower.

I'm not the best at research so maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places but if anyone knows I'd be really interested.

Thanks

Maybe you could post this in Snake's section Sally? S/he may be able to give you some answers, or at least suggest the best places to do the research
