Mondor's Cord

Post by MrsMartini on 15th February 2009, 5:08 am

I'd never heard of this, but saw a post on SoFem, so read it as I was intrigued, and turns out I flippin have it!!

I noticed it a week or so ago, but thought nothing of it & certainly didn't realise it's an official thing...

Here's a link incase you don't know what it is... nothing to worry about apparently!

http://www.justbreastimplants.com/gallery/mondors_cord.htm

Anyone else had it / got it??

Realised you can see it on the close up pics I took of my scars... ewwwww! Looks like something out of Alien!! Doesn't hurt though!

Xx

Re: Mondor's Cord

Hey

I got two of these - one on each boob, and I could only see them when I stretched my arms up. They were only small, about 1-1.5 cm long, and I thought they may have been internal stiches!!

When I saw my surgeon he told me to massage them, which I did. They soon disappeared after that.

Sounds like mine, hunni. It will go ... start massaging it as soon as you get the OK to massage your scars.

I think I am getting these too - but only in my left boobie when I lift my arm up. I was going to send a picture to my PCC, but as it is exactly like the pictures in the link given here, I think I'll wait and see if they disappear soon sad smile

I think I have this! Have been feeling some tightness under my left boob over the weekend and this morning I have 2 raised lines going from my scar down my ribs about 3cm and 2cm long - freakin me out sick When I raise my arms they are so tight, it's like something's gonna snap.

Anyone else got this? Carol, did you speak to your PS? xxx

Modors cord isn't something to worry about girls, it's common after a BA
and the advice from surgeons given that I've seen from the many who've
written here about it is that it will settle on it's
own. xxx

Thanks Cookie x I was worried I'd done something to cause it - I was trying new underwear on this weekend and wondered if the tighter bands and underwiring could have aggrevated something?

Awww, no, nothing you've done sweetness, it's just one of those things that some women will get, others won't - The good news is it's not something that needs a re-op and settles all by itself xx

Re: Mondor's Cord

It wasn't a long term problem for me Carrie, they disappeared gradually over the course of a week and haven't been seen since. I spoke to the nurse about them at my 7 day check up, but to be honest she didn't even seem to recognise the term 'Mondor's Cord', but they had virtually disappeared by then.
I shouldn't worry too much about them sweetheart at this stage, but if they persist then have a word with you PS about them.
