Op booked for ten days!

Post by Gee on 12th September 2016, 9:00 pm

So I'm new to this forum and I've got my op booked for  next Saturday.

I've wanted it for as long as I can remember and now I'm almost 23 I thought I might aswell!

I'm just getting pretty stuck with sizing of bras and what to buy. My surgeon said to get one that closes at the back but everything I've seen says front fastening? And do I need to get a bigger back size or the same?

I've seen loads on the macom bras but I've also seen about buying the cheap ones so I'm totally confused what to buy?!

Wish I had found this forum  sooner!

How exciting!!!!!
I got provided with a post op bra but I know some others on here had to buy their own.
My PS sized up on the back size for comfort and to allow for swelling.

Hopefully someone else on here could advise you on what to buy.

Good luck!!

Yes, check with your surgeon what type of bra they want you in post op. Some say low impact, others high.

If low impact, anything like a comfort bra or a yoga sports crop will do. The belvia's are meant to be good for this

If high, the macom is good because it is front fastening, and post op you're just not going to be able to comfortably reach around your back. Its also good because you only need your band size. M&S also do a front zip one, but it doesnt have adjustable straps, so if you've a long body it can hunch you over more. Theres also an array of high impact non wired sports bras, Triumph, Panache, ShockAbsorber are all favourites.

The thing with cheapy bras is exactly that - theyre cheap. You'll need to be wash one wear one (hand wash in the sink) every day to keep them clean and bacteria away, and they just wont last or keep you supported.

Have a chat with your surgeon and see what they suggest.

Ooh exciting! Look forward to hearing all about it! I was recommended to get a Macom and even 7 weeks on I am wearing it in bed, find it really comfortable!

Thankyou, my macom arrived today and I think I prefer it to the cheaper ones but I suppose I'll have to see what they put me in afterwards, I feel like walking round in it now

Congratulations on booking your ba!!

I tried all sorts of bras after my ba. I got the macom, m and s, shock exsorber and a few more. I was so swollen that they was all uncomfortable. Then I brought the next size up which was so much more comfy.

Look forward to hearing all about your journey xxx
