Is it ok to go bra-less?

Post by ScotsGirl78 on 7th August 2016, 5:56 pm

My op was 16 days ago and I'm STILL constantly sore.
I'm not taking painkillers anymore so it's obviously not 'painful' probably best described as overly-sensitive. But constantly.
I only find relief when I sit with nothing on (so obviously this is only for short periods at a time).
Do you think this is ok or should I be trying to wear a bra constantly?

And was anyone else sore for this long?

I did this occasionally in early recovery but only for 10mins a time or so. I'm sure it's ok if u aren't moving around. My surgeon told me to wear macom for 6 weeks only taking it off for 20mins per day for showering. Think you've just got to go by what your surgeon says. Xx

I was braless most of the time as my ps was happy with that... My boobies are fine so I don't think it matters !... I was sensitive for a good few weeks after... It takes a while for them to settle down... Now I forget that they are not real !!

You are looking fab in your avi xxx

Thanks ladies think I'll stick with some boobs-out time to get some relief but mostly wearing my Macom.

I've had a few periods where I've just taken it off - sometimes my skin is so sensitive it drives me mad. Other days it doesn't seem so bad. I'm still quite sore though when I hug the kids and my boobs are still very numb in a lot of places. Keep reminding myself that it's early days but it's hard! X

As others have said I am sure it is fine to go braless for short periods, I too like being free from my Macom or sports bra for a while most evenings! I am suffering with itchy boobs so it's a great relief to get them out and rub moisturising cream into them to stop me scratching as I am so paranoid about stretch marks!!

I've worked out that my permanent discomfort is because my nipples are hard all the time!!! There is permanent friction wearing a bra all the time so that's why I get relief going bra less.
Am I going to have stiff nips forever?!?!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I had this Hun, and my nipples peeled! I found putting a cotton wool pad over them inside my bra helped a lot. It doesn't last forever though, so hang in there xxx

Oh wow thanks ladies great to hear that this is common.
Funnily enough I've just rubbed moisturiser in as my boobs and nipples are peeling.
Mmmm sexy!

Maybe try lansinoh - you can get it in boots and was great for something similar when I was breast feeding. My poor nips just get squashed down so are pointing to the floor everyone I take my bra off. I have to fluff them back up

Haha yes the nips get squashed in weird directions with the bra on - even leaving nipple shaped indents on my boobs!!
Don't know why I didn't think of covering them or something like lansinoh.
Will def get experimenting!

Ooh yes Lansinoh, I'm definitely going to dig out some of this from my breastfeeding days as feel like I could do with some moisturising in this area too lol!
