12 month anniversary and 12 things I’ve learnt!

Post by blush89 on 6th April 2016, 11:48 am

Hi ladies!

So I can’t believe it, but it’s my one year boobie birthday this Friday! Time has literally flown, and here I am 12 months down the line!

I had 315cc Furry Brazilian/polyurethane implants with Mrs Kat (East Midlands surgeon who I would highly recommend).

I thought it would be fun, to create a list of the 12 things I’ve learnt in the 12 months since I’ve had my BA. So here goes!

12. It’s a pretty big deal – When I initially booked my surgery, I don’t think I had fully comprehended what I had signed up for. BA’s are so normalised in the media and general culture now, and to me, the biggest shock was parting with £5-6k of cash rather than the procedure itself! However, I’ll never forget turning up at that hospital and having that sudden realisation about what was about to happen. Lying on my back, surrounded by surgeons in their scrubs and hysterically crying as the GA was injected into my system is something I’ll never forget. Equally, waking up and seeing three hours have passed and you’ve got a nurse telling you to ‘wake up, you’ve got boobs!’ will hands down go down as one of the strangest experiences of my life! A year down the line it almost feels like it never happened, but when I think back I realise, WOW, I had full blown surgery!

11. The first few weeks were tough – I was fully prepared to feel terrible for that first week, but I didn’t realise the impact the procedure would have for a whole 3-4 weeks after. I remember being on the bus on the way back from Aldi and clutching my boobs thinking they would fall off! I remember being at work and desperately trying to push open the big heavy door into the meeting room and simply not being able to. I remember trying to hang some clothes up in my room and not being able to reach the hangers... It actually makes me laugh now to think back, but there is so much more to the recovery process than the paperwork tells you!

10. Month 1-3 you’ll turn into your own biggest critic – You will analyse EVERYTHING. From scars, shape, aches, tingles, size, texture, sensation…You’ll panic and think you’ve got every complication going. You’ll think they look massive, then you’ll think they look tiny. You’ll spend hours in front of the mirror, taking pics and examining them. You’ll go through up’s, down’s and everything in between.

9. Month 3-6 you’ll suddenly start to feel good - I started exercising again at this point and suddenly felt brighter, stronger and more confident. My boobs finally started to feel ‘mine’. Bra shopping was incredibly exciting and I felt sexy and feminine. However, there were still the old familiar niggles and worries which didn’t stop me still emailing my clinic every other week. ‘Should they be this hard still?’ ‘When will my scars fade?’ ‘I can feel the implant!’…. Each time I was reminded I was still early on in my journey, no matter how far along I thought I was!

8. Bra shopping is actually quite hard – Once the initial excitement wears off, you realise bra shopping is actually pretty hard work! Now you HAVE boobs you have to learn from scratch what to look for in a good fit. Something you wouldn’t have cared less about before. You realise bras are flipping expensive too, but it wont stop you buying and buying and buying! On top of that, you’ll often find you are a different size by shop. In Debenhams I once measured a 32E, in Bravissimo a 30FF, in Boux Avenue 32DD and John Lewis a 30E. Geez!!! I cannot stress the importance of learning how to fit yourself properly, and be prepared to take handfuls of the same bra into the fitting room!

7. Not many people will actually notice – Which for me, was a great thing!! I literally boosted my cup size by 3 cups (B – DD approx.) and I still find it hilarious how little people have noticed. For the people I’ve told, they’ve all told me how natural and proportionate I look which is great. For the people I haven’t told, only two people in this entire year have said to me ‘your boobs are looking big today’. I just laugh it off and say ‘oh it’s just a bit of padding’ and immediately I am left alone. So it’s easier to keep the secret than you think!

6. Month 6 – 9 bought lots of subtle changes – I genuinely thought by this point I wouldn’t see any more changes, but I think the fact I just stopped obsessing about my boobs made the subtle changes more obvious and surprising. For instance, I went in for the feel one day (as you do when you become your own boob obsessive!) and noticed how soft, jiggly and bouncy they were. Yes, there was still an element of firmness and ‘weight’ which is different to a real breast, but there they were, bouncing and jiggling in a way I hadn’t noticed before. I also noticed I could no longer ‘feel’ the implant. Before I was always paranoid I could feel the texture of the implant though my skin when lying down (a bit like feeling a chicken fillet but under your skin!) but suddenly that had gone too. Don’t ask me how/why/what happened – but suddenly the sensation had gone.

5. Scars are annoying – They seem to take FOREVER to fade, and mine are still fading even now, 12 months on. I’ve been told by my clinic they can take 18 months to fade so I guess it’s just a waiting game. My mum (whose had hers done too) said hers took around two years, but now they are literally invisible. I massage my scars every evening with a vitamin rich oil but you’ll hear 1001 different recommendations on how to treat the scars. Best way is to just do as your own surgeon recommends.

4. Clothes will look amazing – I never realised just how much having a proportionate figure would do wonders for your figure. I can now wear low cut dresses with confidence and go braless and feel incredible. Balancing out your figure (which in my case meant matching my small boobs up with my curvy hips and bum) creates a beautiful hour glass shape and will just do wonders for your confidence.

3. Your old insecurities won’t go away – I used to feel incredibly insecure about my small boobs. I felt boyish, childlike and unsexy. I thought getting these brand new boobs would fix all that, and it did, to an extent. However my old insecurities have now been replaced my new ones. I now think ‘do they fake?’, ‘what will people think of me if they find out?’ ‘when will my scars ever disappear?’ ‘what if I have any problems or complications?’ ‘what happens when they need replacing?’ etc...I’m a natural worrier so these things do play on my mind more than I would like them to, but I find after a few minutes I’m ok again! Unfortunately it’s just part of the process and I have to remember how miserable I was before with no boobs vs now!

2. Month 9 -12 you’ll feel like you’ve had them your whole life – I honestly forget they are even fake sometimes! They look and behave so much like normal boobs. Every now and then when getting changed or trying on a bra I have that wow moment. Wow that they look so good and wow that I’ve been on this journey! Even now I know there are still changes to come, but I couldn’t be happier with the result at this stage.

1. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done – I did this for ME and no one else. I was incredibly lucky I had such great support from family and friends, and I’m proud I paid for the procedure entirely myself from working hard and saving. I’m proud I had the confidence to research and book that initial consult, and I’m proud I bravely walked to that operation room on my own with shaking hands and feet! I am proud I thought ‘screw everyone else’ and did something so monumental for myself. Yes, the journey is NOT an easy ride but at this stage I couldn’t be happier with the result. Yes, they’ll always be people that turn their nose up but I’ve come to realise it’s just jealousy. Jealousy that they probably can’t afford to do it themselves and jealously they dont have the balls to go through with it!
I now feel like a WOMAN. My clothes fit better, I don’t need padded bra’s, I feel SO confident in the bedroom with my partner…ultimately I just feel like I’ve finally got the boobs I should have been given.

Good luck ladies who are going through your journeys! And hope this resonated with some of the other 1 year PO’s here!! I've absolutely loved this forum and it was one of the best things I've ever stumbled upon. You've all been so supportive and friendly and I cant thank everyone enough.

Happy Birthday Boobies!!  Flash

Ahhh it's made me come over all a bit teary!!! Amazing positive lovely post - thanks blush!!

Totally agree with all you've said and with the fact it's just as hard to buy bras now as it was with small boobs - I automatically expected everything to fit and look amazing but it's not the case! BA's need to come with a warning about spending money for bras afterwards - it does cost a lot to replace them all (but it's fun!)

Happy 1 year birthday blushes boobies! Xx

Happy 1 Year [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Stars

And I couldn't agree more with all of your post!
Its a wonderful thing to do, and to be brave and go for it, I am so happy I did it and I love bra shopping and just feeling so much more feminine.

I think the worry will always be there, us women are like that I think, tend to worry about the 'What if's', I do with everything! But for the now - I'm happy.

Clothes do look so much better your right, bras are just a joy to buy, although on saying that, you do also need to try before you buy as not every shops are the same....just like with dresses I guess.

This is a great place to come and ask a question if your feeling worried, or just to share progress. I still now read back through old posts and its nice to read through how people have progressed over the months.

Take Care, enjoy them, they look beautiful on you, and suit your frame perfect.

Now update your avi missus!!! LOL

Lovely post. I think too when you finally accept them and they feel part of you there is a niggly worry then how long will they be this good. Also they is the thought of do I look fake.. does everyone in work think I'm fake?

Ahh this was such a good read!! Happy one year anniversary boobies. I often get a feeling in my stomach and think what have I actually done? and then not really having anyone there to reassure you as someone who has been in your position can be hard.. so when reading things like this it makes me feel so much more empowered. Thanks for the advice before surgery [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - it's lovely to read how happy you are xxxx

Aw [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] such a good read!!

Number 7 yesssss! My best friend said she wouldn't have noticed unless I had told her!

And my best guy friend said to me when did you get boobs?! When we were drunk....I freaked a little and stupidly answered the question literally... like oh I got them in May!! He didn't get it at allllllll!!! He thought I meant I bought a padded bra in May!

I was like in in May I got them in May....he was like OHHHHHHH you got them like paid for them?? (The loook on his face hahaha) I said yeahhh...that

I totally could have got away with not telling him though...(he's cool and said he's happy for me because he knew I had been talking about wanting it done for years)

But seriously girls...if you don't want to tell anyone you totally don't have to...no one will notice especially if you have been wearing padded bras for years!!

@ _wildflower_ so true!!

Aw pleased for you. Goes to show how much we worry about EVERYONE knowing then they just don't!! In fact I think the only time mine look remotely big is in a slightly ladder push up bra and a low cut top. But how often do I go around wearing that?! Most of the time I'm just in normal day clothes!

Glad you are getting on well, you should write a 12 month update too as I see your coming up to your one year!! Xxxxx
