Not long till boob day for me :)
I had a consultation with my surgeon today just to go over everything and to reassure myself more than anything, and it did! Mr McGeorge is so thorough and I feel so much calmer after speaking to him again. He said that I don't need a Macom at all.. even though I have one (which I can return) but are they mainly used for comfort reasons?
Anyone got any tips they found really useful for their surgery day or post surgery? I have a list of what to take with me that I got on here but just wondered what everyone was thankful they brought? I'm staying over night so will take a couple of magazines/books with me!
Starting to get a little giddy now, it's come around so fast!

Exciting!! Glad u are all excited again!
Surgeons vary in what they advise post surgery but the macom is for compression and support and I wasn't allowed to remove it asides from showering for 6 weeks. But some have their patients braless! There is so much conflicting advise that you just have to follow your own surgeon.
Post surgery for the journey home def take a pillow to put between new boobs and seatbelt - someone here advised that - total godsend! And wipes - for face underarms / general clean up! U can't be bothered to actually do anything properly! Baggy clothes and front fastening everything - nothing right u have to pull over your head! Xx

I took magazines and iPad to watch films but to be honest I was just in and out of sleep so didn't really bother with either. But that's just me so take them anyway. Snacks, take snacks. I didn't and made hubby bring me crisps and choccy's. I'm so excited for you xx

Surgeons will differ girl to girl on their aftercare support, so its normal for some to be in high support, some to be freeboobing.
Same as above, with the addition of an electric toothbrush. Even if you just get a crappy cheap kiddies one. You've no idea how sore the jiggling is!

Re: Not long till boob day for me :)
Definitely snacks! I took ginger biscuits to help with digestion. I couldn't sleep once I had come round at 11am, and only managed 2 hours sleep that night so my laptop, phone and chargers were a godsend. I also took 2 DVDs in case I couldn't use the internet and I did watch them. The V pillow from John Lewis is AMAZING and is really helping with sleeping upright. Oh, and frozen peas in sandwich bags! The nurse told me to use them as long as the dressings are not getting wet so I've been using them over the top of my Macom with a layer of kitchen roll between. I've been keeping the peas on for 10 minutes 3 times a day when they start to ache just before I take the painkillers.

Not much more I can add, I don't know how talk you are but I found it useful to put a plastic fold up stool in shower so I didn't have to stretch to turn it on (but I'm a midget so you probably won't need one lol). The pillow for drive home is a big must.
Good luck for tomorrow, hope all goes well and you wake up one happy girl xx
