Capsular Contracture percentage?
Me again! Just having a bit of a melt down at everything at the minute... stressing over the possibilities of getting CC and wondering whether if I did, would it all be worth it! What were all your thoughts on this before going ahead? And does anyone know if the percentage is different depending on the surgeon or is there a general average? My surgeon is on holiday for a week now so can't speak to him until then, just need a bit of reassurance. Thanks again xxx

Re: Capsular Contracture percentage?
There is no percentage difference per surgeon, so please dont worry about that! And I see you are going with Mr McGeorge who I know is very highly thought of on here. So you are in safe hands!
Firstly, all your nerves are entirely normal. Most, if not all, women go through the same last minute panic and paranoia. There's nothing I can really say to help on that front, you have to be 100% sure this is what you want to do and make your own choices having done the research.
In terms of CC, there is always a risk of getting it following a BA. EVERYONE who has a breast aug has grade 1 CC anyway because the surgery is so invasive. But unless it gets to grade 3 standard, you wont even know you have it. CC is a common side effect of having a BA. It can be minimized by having having furry implants like mine, but that still doesn't mean you 100% wont get it. Like ANYTHING in life, there are a tonne of risks involved. You just have to weigh up whether you think the benefits are going to outweigh the risks.
It's really hard at this stage as I can tell how nervous you are. But you have the full support of everyone on here. I actually found leaving the forum in the last few weeks before surgery helped. It just helps focus your mind on other things and stop the obsessive worrying.
The way I thought of it is, I was willing to take the risk because I was so self conscious and miserable before. Even if I get CC, I know it's not the end of the world as I'll either get them removed or replaced. It's really not the end of the world. And even if nothing happens to your implants it's likely you'll need to replace them at some point anyway. Surgery is getting more and more advanced everyday, imagine the type of implant choices we'll have in the next 10-30 years!! Its a billion pound industry and Breast Aug's are the most popular service, so they'll only continue in investing into better implants for the future.
I hope this has helped! If you are really panicking, try giving the surgery a call or ask to speak to a nurse there.

Re: Capsular Contracture percentage?
I think Blush has answered that beautifully!
There's always going to be a risk, even if you've had the 'lowest risk' implants and surgery. Its just one of those things.
I've PM'd you back too x

Thank you so much [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - your right.. nobody can decide for me or tell me what to do. And you have hit the nail on the head - life comes with risks and if this is something I am willing to do then it could make me feel like the woman I have always wanted to be. Thanks for the support, this forum has been a god send.. it's hard trying to keep these kind of secrets from the outside world without going a little crazy haha!
