Massage's

Are you ok to massage the boobs or is this something you should get the go ahead from your surgeon. My hubby has been giving them a little massage for me in past couple of days but now I've thought about it maybe u should email and ask if it's ok just incase something goes wrong. Did you ladies have to get the go ahead for this? X

You are only supposed to massage them if they are smooth implants and being overs in guessing yours are textured?

You aren't supposed to massage textured ones as they need to stick to the pocket. Mine are smooth so are designed to move around in there!

The massage is so boring - I have to do it 3 times a day for 10mins. It has softened them up nicely tho! X

Dont massage them unless explicitly told to by your surgeon. Textured ones especially. You can tell what you've got from the label you were given (unders or overs dont dictate the shell). Mine say TRX, textured responsive Xtra high profile.

If he's just giving them a little rub though, it should be ok. No firm hands!

I'm panicking now as he's massaged them a few times. I don't even know if they are smooth or textured I will try add a picture of my card

So I wouldn't worry, but maybe spk to your clinic in the morn to be sure.

I'm sure you won't have done any damage don't worry!! i guessed they were textured as smooth ones are usually placed over the muscle given the risk of cc. 

Sure you'll be fine if he's just rubbing a bit of oil in gently! I'm quite agressive with my massage but I'm sure he wouldn't be going for it like they were lumps of play dough! Xx

No it's quite a gentle massage and most of time it is on the sides where it's still a bit tender. Hope it's ok xx thanks Lucy xx

TSM375 means Textured (shell) Soft touch (fill) Moderate (profile) 375cc.

Might upset the applecart here...SO generally as a rule, we've always said no massage unless your surgeon tells you to, especially with textured implants because they need to adhere to the pocket (and by massage I mean a firm rolling palm). However, on my journey through second opinions, Mr Richards told me something quite interesting - they're not supposed to adhere. At least not in the same way as Polyeurothanes stick like velcro. Natrelle use an 'aggressive' texturing technique, I believe its achieved through some sort of sandblasting (don't quote me on that), which is why it was suggested by two surgeons that perhaps I switch to a smooth, or a less aggressively textured implant (the Motiva, no foreign objects used) to allow for 'better' encapsulation. I think the massage with the textured implant comes back to the double capsule point that Mr Richards suggested - its adhered to the pocket, then some sort of trauma pulls it away, causing it to re-heal and form a second layer of scar tissue. Which is why we suggest not to massage.

Now, this is all just what I was told, and I'm sure every surgeon would tell you something different. Like I said, if its just a gentle rub, like you would rub your boobs after a long day at work anyway, I'm sure its fine. But I would double check with your surgeon if you're allowed to actually 'massage' them firmly all over.

That's very interesting charlii thank you. Xx they haven't been massaged like we know a massage to be. Definetly no with the palm and mostly it's been around the breast and at the top and sometimes on the boob but not for long as it feels weird but will be putting a stop to that now. Lol might just have to get him to do the back instead x

Also when I massage my smooth implants it is not so much 'massage' but displacement of the implant in all directions. It's quite firm and although they call it massage it isn't really. More like a series of manouvers! Gentle stroking movements I'm sure are fine.

And that's interesting what u say Charlii. I must admit having smooth makes me feel less precious about my boobs as I know the implants are supposed to move around! X
