Recovery blues! Empty Recovery blues!

Post by Lucy106 18th December 2015, 11:00 am

I don't want to sound negative here but this is a lot harder than I was expecting!

Pain doesn't seem as bad today but it still has its moments! But I feel so completely useless and feeble and I'm feeling a bit low. I can't even face brushing my hair let alone going for a walk as the nurse suggested!

What the hell am I supposed to do with my hair? It's a mess!!! I can't imagine washing it and I can't imagine going out in public to get it done either! Feel so ugly!

I asked hubby if he would help me have a bath later and he looked at me in disgust as he's scared of the boobs! The man has seen me give birth twice but I feel so undignified!

I wouldn't even mind if the boobs looked nice but they look hideous! I can't bare to look at them at the mo. How do women look in the mirror on first day and fall in love? And take sexy avi pics one day post op? Mine are not fit for viewing!! I'm happy with size, don't get me wrong but the shape is so gross at the mo and one has a dent at the bottom which I'm freaking out about a bit. I know the shape will change but what's with the dent?

Think I'll have to watch some comedy now to perk myself up a bit! Sorry to be all doom and gloom. I'm sure I'll be ok in a couple of weeks!

Recovery blues! Empty Re: Recovery blues!

You're going through the booby blues, and its all normal. The GA is working it's way out of your system leaving you hormonal and emotional, plus you're tired and in pain. It was around this point I had a temper tantrum in the hall in my undies, just bawling my eyes out! It's hard work. No one said it would be easy! Just take it slow, and this feeling will pass in a couple days, promise.

If you can, maybe head to your salon for a wash and blowdry. Whisper in their ear and they will make you as comfy as possibly. Trust me, they see it all the time! And your husband needs to man up dammit! You've just had major surgery and yes, they are going to look like frankenboobs for a while. Tell him to get over it and help you into the bath!

Thankyou so much both of you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt his way! I honestly didn't expect to feel so alien and gross!

Today I feel ever so slightly more mobile than yesterday and am trying to stand as up right as I dare. I'm worried they will fall off if I put my shoulders back that far!

Watching bank to back eps of 'girls' and trying to forget I have 2 hard mishappen lumps on my chest!

Lucy
I was exactly the same as you!!!! I just cried in bed as I was so frustrated that I couldn't do Anything, I didn't brush my hair or even got out of bed for the 1st week ( only to go toilet) I too was a mess.

It will get better I promise. I too thought they was going
to fall out if I strIghtened up. It took me about 2 weeks to get a avi picture.

Hope you feel better soon xxxx

Awww Lucy I'm so sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I had a day like that where I thought what the hell am I doing  putting myself under such pain. 8 days post op and I get moments where I feel in a lot of pain and get very annoyed but I know it'll be so worth it in the long run!

Tell your hub he must wash your hair and observe the new breasts he's gotta get used to em! My partner finds them so weird still whereas I feel like I've got to them so quickly! I went and got my hair done at that salon yesterday and made me feel so much better would defo recommend. I haven't slept properly in 8 days though and that's really getting to me now sick of feeling like a zombie every day Xxxxxx

Post by Lucy106 19th December 2015, 7:40 am

Thankyou ladies! Yesterday I managed a day with no tears!! The first day out of hospital was the worst so far! Today they feel even more swollen and hard and I've been trying to cut down on pain relief so I might have to rethink that - too soon!

Yep it's definitely a sleep issue too. My pillow castle won't fit in bed with my husband so I'm in the spare room which makes me feel a bit odd! I made hubby poke one this morning (through my top) - with the tip of his finger - it's a start! He's so scared of them - he hadn't seen them naked yet and I don't want him to!

Had a shallow bath yesterday and managed it all my myself - check me out!!! Haha! Baby steps.

Def going to try and get a wash and blowdry booked in.

IFJG are u wearing normal tops yet? All my tops are best tops - low cut. I don't own anything high necked really so I might need to invest as I don't fancy showing the world yet!

Thanks for your support everyone xxx

@lucy so glad you're feeling a little better, to be honest I'm finding it a bit of a roller coaster ride. I feel ok in the mornings now then I just get on with things then by midday by incisions are so painful it is unbelievable and I actually do cry with the pain, but I don't really feel any discomfort now so I guess that's a good thing.

At my nurse checkup I was told if I was going out for a few hours to see friends or something I could wear a non wired bra as long as I change back into my stabilising one when I'm back, so I brought two pretty ones from Sloggi brand in house of Fraser they're really nice. One in nude and one in black. Bloody 32D!! Madness could hardly fit in an A cup before!!!  But when I wear one of those then I can wear a nice top but at work I'm going to have wear high neck for ages which is sooooo annoying because of the bloody positioning strap across the top is visible!!! Only 2 weeks 5 days left in it though xxxxxxxx

Recovery is a mother f!
I hated it, I remember coming on here and was like 'omg I'm in so much pain, is this morning boob'? Cos I couldn't even get off the couch un-aided or even opening doors was almost impossible! But it does get better and you sound like you may have turned a corner already now.

Hope your feeling better, just know its not forever, it will get better with each new day.

And you know to ignore how they look for a while, in those first few weeks they can look nuts! I have a picturetrail if you need reassurance on that one!! Hysterical

Take it easy, rest when you can. xx

Funnily enough Twinky - I hope you don't mind but I did take another look at your pic trail (I have the details from last time) as I'm trying to reassure myself but honestly no ones boobs seem to look as bad as mine!  I took some pics intending to upload to pic trail yesterday but they are honestly so gross I deleted them all in disgust!  I think thats the worst thing.  Feel like crap but also have rubbish boobs!

Oh well - I know its a waiting game!

Recovery wise generally I feel more positive (no more tears which was the worst thing), but if I overdo things I get really tired.  Also made the mistake of picking up a casserole dish yesterday which didn't help.  You can't help but chip in around the house tho.  Hubby tells me not to but then complains and moans and is generally loudly grumpy that he is having to do everything!  MEN! xx

I so wish I could give you some words of wisdom but not having had mine done yet I can't really give you any proper advice. But from reading other girls stories on here you'll get there and have loads of changes still to come. Xx

The good news is you're at the worst of it right now. Days 3-5 is when the GA is working out of your system and makes you really emotional. Give it another couple of days and you'll start back on the up. Especially once you've had a shower!

Post by Lucy106 1st February 2016, 8:42 am

Hello!! It was me who wrote this post - I felt wretched!! But the good news is that it's all a distant memory now! I'm almost 7 weeks post op. I started feeling better after about day 10 but it wasn't like magic and all fixed. More of a 1 step forward, 2 steps back thing! I was still in a bit of pain at 3 weeks but now I'm pain free (one side is still sensitive but more discomfort than pain). I feel almost back to my old self and once I start running / exercise again which I'm going to start back up next week then I'll be happy!!

It honestly does get better but at the time I remember it feeling like it never would!! Just don't try and be superwoman and do loads (one of my biggest complaints was feeling useless!). My house got hoovered once in 6 weeks - by a reluctant husband! I just had to leave it all - felt so good to finally Hoover my house last week!!

Big hugs - hang in there and I promise it will start to get better soon! Xx
