Second opinion with Anthony Armstrong Empty Second opinion with Anthony Armstrong

Well, I left that appt more confused than going in. First of all, I was pretty miffed with him. My appt was at 830...which is what time he rocked up in the car park. Not impressed. Anyway, went in with the nurse/chaperone at about 845 who put me in a gown and had a quick chat. Mr Armstrong then comes in and we have a good chat about what I've got in (he was shocked I knew every detail about my implant!), what the problem has been, and what my original surgeon has suggested. He then had a good feel of them both standing and lying. And he cant feel anything wrong with them. He says they are both equally soft, with equal amounts of movement. He could see me squirming though. So we talked some more and tried to pinpoint the place and sensation I'm feeling. His thoughts are that its actually a nerve problem. The implant is brushing ever so slightly on to a nerve...but on the flip side of that, it cant be a nerve thing, because nerve pain is sharp and shooting. So what is it.

Needless to say, I've piqued his interest! He's recommended an MRI. Which is going to cost about £800 for two boobs. His secretary is going to mail over the exact details, but its more because it needs a soft tissue MRI. He also thinks maybe I need to see a pain specialist. So that's definitely going to be another step to take.

He did disagree with my surgeon, he thought there was no reason to go smaller, said they looked great, very symmetrical, suited my body perfectly, would even maybe add a couple of CC to see if that stopped the movement (which hubs frowned at, because he already thinks they're too big!) But he would not answer my question - If I asked you to re-do them, what would you do? I think he didn't want to answer because a) he doesn't think a re-do will help, and b) the cynic in me thinks he doesn't want to take over that aftercare!

So, more to think about. In with Adrian Richards tomorrow afternoon. We're going to give him the same info as this morning, and not tell him what we found today, so that we can get that unbiased opinion.

Oh you must be so confused right now, my head would be in bits. Hope you get more answers tomorrow. If Adrian says something totally different are you going to get another opinion just to see if they come up with the same as either of the other two?

Mmmm - Like u say... Bit confusing. But positive news re the implant size and I feel kind of positive re him not thinking a problem. But then there clearly is a problem as you can feel it. The question is what happens after you've psi all that money for the scan. What will it achieve if it just needs to be changed or re operated on anyway?

Like u say - I'll be interested to hear what the next surgeon suggests and what his views will be. Keep us posted Charlii xxx

I'm 2.5yrs at them moment, and the general feeling is you should get an mri every 3yrs ish anyway to check for silent ruptures etc. So seeing as it would be in my near future a yway, yes, I'm going to get the mri. Just waiting on the hows and how much.

I just don't really know what to think right now. Haven't eaten in a couple days worrying about it all. You get to a point where how many opinions do I get? Each one could think it's something different. There's going to have to come a poi t where I either live with it until it's 'time' to replace them, or just get them to redo them now. Lets wait and see what tomorrow brings.

I think your being very sensible getting the mri, like you say your About to your 3 yrs anyhow.

Its good he doesn't think you will need 2 go smaller, but it must be infuriating wondering what this pain is. Have you always had it or has it progressively got worse over time?
Good luck for today hun. X

There's always been a dull ache that I've lived with. But last year, I was trying on a new bikini, giving them a jiggle, when I first noticed the 'crunching' sensation. That progressively got worse, especially just lying down braless. Recently its got past the point of put up, hence all this fun!!

MRI is booked. I just rang the hospital, told them who was reffering me, that they will get a form next tues, and boom. So that's all booked for 22nd. At a cool grand. Guess I'm not getting my new car anytime soon :(

Ouch on the price of MRI, although it's a sensible move. Fingers crossed it sheds light on the problem and you'll have the correct info to move forward and get it sorted out xx
