back to work after b.a
I have not yet had a ba but i was planning to have it for my birthday when i have a week off in october but i work in a baby unit of a nursery so obviously have to lift babies etc. I decided to book a week off in january so that i have 2 weeks off over xmas do you think this will be enough time off as i wont be allowd longer. Also im not telling work about the ba so am a bit worried, having my consultation tomorrow so will ask them about it but i really want it done but just scared that i will hurt myself going back to work after 2 weeks :(

hey lovely,
You're advised to not lift anything heavy for 6 weeks, how old are the babies you look after?
I'd ask at your consult what your surgeon suggests you do, as you might hurst yourself lifting too early on.

I think that's for the best really. The last thing you want to do is be in more pain than you have to be. And after spending all that money, you wouldn't want to compromise the look in any way

I second that!!! Perhaps your G.P. may sign you off for a week or two for 'medical reasons' and add to your holidays!! Good Luck

I was told not to lift anything heavy (like shopping bags or kids) for 3 weeks. As you've got quite a physical job I'd be inclined to have as much time as you can off to rest up. I went back after 2 weeks but only had an office job at the time.

Re: back to work after b.a
Glad you had your consult, but you should ask your surgeon, not your PCC about whether it's ok to lift as he/she'll have the knowledge and experience to advise you.
PCCs are basically just glorified sales advisors.

Hia, Im a midwife and I had 6weeks off! As I have to do alot of heavy lifting. Just gone back to work and im in abit of discomfort from lifting babies and moving beds etc. Dont know if i could have done it after 2weeks. Aslong as you let people at work no you've had an op and you cant do much lifting you should be ok. People at my work have been fab and wont let me do anything! lol Hope that helps
