Last minute panic! Will it all be worth it???

Post by Toryplum on 12th April 2015, 3:05 pm

Hi all you lovely ladies, as always your posts have really helped me through this decision. But I'm in a funny place right now. I am booked in for full uplift, slight reduction to one side and light lipo to flanks. I'm so worried about the procedure and recovery (I have a four year old and 15months). Will it all be worth it? I'm not having implants as I don't want to be bigger (34DD at moment) but I would love pert boobs with a bit of fullness. Will I get that? They look good in a bra already to be fair but not so great when out of one! Is the recovery shocking? Oh goodness me I can see me running down the hospital corridor, robed up and trying to escape! Does anyone have any words of wisdom please x x x

Its very difficult leading up to your op, lots of girls on here felt the same as you do, including me, and plefty after you will too. I have 3 girls 11,9 and 8 so healing was a massive deal for ,e too. It wasn't too bad, but then I only had implants and they were overs
There is no denying that you will be sore, especially with the Lipo too, but im sure you will keep it under control if you use your pain management correctly. And try not to do too much too soon, its hard when yr a mom and used to being busy. Have u got people to help you after?
I really think you won't regret it, when yr all healed, you will never look back :) x

Thank you Jen23 it's really kind of you to take the time to reply. I really appreciate your advice. I don't know why I'm panicking so much. I think it's more to do with the children than anything else. Hate to think I won't be able to just be mummy! I know it will be worth it eventually. Think I need to simply stop thinking about it so much. Thank you again xxxx

Its so difficult to not think about it though Lol boobs on the brain!
I wasn't really worried about the procedure itself, like you I was worried about recovery. My husband works nights and he went back to work the 3rd night after my op. Luckily my girls are all in school so I could rest in the day. I was very lucky as my husband was very supportive and my girls believed that I had hurt my shoulder at the gym, they still haven't noticed my boobs, although I did have a close call the other day when my smallest asked about my scars....
You can still be mummy, kids are far more resilient than we think. They probably won't even notice you being a bit hands off for a week or so. Cuddles aren't off either, you may just need to fake injury or something and tell them to be gentle with mummy.
Did u say you had some support after?
I just went a bit mad beforehand, deep cleaning, freezing meals, did a big shop etc. Moved things I used most to elbow height, made sure I had clothes on hand that were easy to get on and off....leggings, vest tops that I could step into and pull up rather than over my head. Zip up hoodies or cardigans...also, I lived in my PJs for about 3 days Lol x

I'm sick of looking at blooming boobs!!! Seriously, boobs on the brain. Some fab advice, thank you, I hadn't even thought about getting clothes ready and moving things from high places! I guess all the effort now will make for a better recovery. Yours look amazing by the way!!! Much like you, I do feel lucky as my husband will be very supportive and my mum is going to come and stay for a few days to help out. It just seems so weird having a date for surgery that I know will turn life upside down (but my boobs back up)! I will get my head around it I'm sure, I hope! Really, really appreciate your advice thank you so much xxx

No problem, anytime!
I think, for me anyway, I was worried it would be too much too soon. Like any other change that happens in your body is gradual, weight loss or gain, toning, being pregnant. The thought of going to sleep and waking up with boobs, although exciting, kind of freaked me out. I was worried I wouldn't like them. Luckily I love them! I'm sure you will too! For you I imagine, it will be nice for you to look at them and see what they used to be.....they won't look so hot straight away though. Please be prepared for that, they will be bruised and swollen and quite possibly look totally different to one another for a while. Somew good advice on here is that our boobs are sisters, not twins. And even though the ops are done at the same time, its still 2 totally different ops on 2 separate body parts.
Mine are healing at very different rates, the photo doesn't show it but its true. I'm OK with that....now Lol I wasn't at first though. It takes time but I'm sure you will be fine :) and good on your mum for helping! You sound like you've got it figured out mostly. Some stuff you wouldn't think of unless you have had a BA, sharing is caring though Lol x

You wouldn't be human if you weren't having a last minute panic, more so since it's elective surgery & not a necessity!  Hug
Focus on your reasons for doing this  & out come/ results , recovery is a tiny part of your journey & you've got all the help at hand to see you through it.
Jen is right kids probably won't notice , they're much too busy playing etc as long as mums there for cuddles & stories they'll be just fine, as will you.

Thank you thank you Mirren001 it's so true that because I'm choosing to do this, I feel more guilt and worry! But the bigger picture is I will be happier and that can only benefit the family I guess. Thank you so much. I've had a horrible day wrestling with my own thoughts but you have both really helped me to put this into perspective. Sure I will be back feeling worried this time next week but that's to be expected I'm sure! Positive thoughts............... Thanks again ladies x
