Hi ladies

I'm so relieved to have found a website like this! I got an uplift with implants on 21st December, I relaxed for 2 weeks but am now back at work and am finding it very difficult. I am a teacher and so cannot avoid walking around. They seemed to be getting better during my 2 weeks off and I was able to move around a little round the house but took it easy. There wasn't too much pain after a week or so and I felt comfortable. Now I'm back at work they are literally killing me, they are so tender I can hardly move! Which is making work very difficult.  I am taking paracetamol and ibru but want to stay off the codeine as it blocks me up and makes me drowsy. I went to the clinic yesterday and she said all is fine. Am I being a wimp or what?! Its so sore! Every muscle around my chest and even just to touch them they are so bruised feeling. I would love to know if people have had the same, just for some reassurance, it'll make me feel better. As right now I am really struggling with everything. By all means just tell me to man up! ;) Thanks guys.

Welcome to Breast Buddies Sophie wavey

Firstly, let me just say Sophie - you are NOT a wimp Hug

Having an Uplift/Breast Augmentation is a big operation and it takes time for the body to recover. As we're all different some women are up and out after a week,  others are two weeks or more and as long as there's no problems with your incisions (which you've had yours checked and they're fine) all is OK.

If I were you Sophie I'd go and see your GP and request another week off. Don't worry about the GP disclosing the reason for your absense. They'll simply write on your note 'general surgery' you've no need to explain beyond that.

It's ALWAYS so very important to listen to your body, and it sounds like YOUR  body is literally screaming for rest hun, so that's what you should do.

Get yourself home and another week will make all the difference, build yourself up slowly taking yourself out for little walks a couple of times a day until you feel strong and then walk a little more...

But you do need rest Sophie and it's important you get it lovely -  go and see you GP and get signed off. Xx

Hi & Welcome to Breast Buddies Sophie. wavey   ,
You're still very early in recovery from having a big operation so all the things you are feeling at the moment is all quite normal & the initial return to work can take a lot out of you in the early days, If taking more time of work is not an option try to take it as easy as possible whilst you are there. Your GP could give you a line for lighter duties or if you are keeping your op to yourself, a sore back will often suffice at work for being unable to do certain things until you are feeling up to it.
You may find reading some of the posts in the Diaries section will help by reading other peoples experiences and how they felt during recovery ,ways of coping with situations etc.....
Pop a post in the Newbies Say Hello section where I'm sure the lovely ladies on here would like to welcome you , the General section is good to post in too where there's always some one around to answer & advise you where they possibly can.
I just had a straightforward BA but can say at your stage post op I was still struggling with general  day to day things  like opening heavy doors etc ( opted for pushing them with bottom rather than arms) & was still in some discomfort.
Hopefully some ladies with uplift experience will be a long shortly to offer you more advice.
Look forward to hearing how you get on & happy healing wishes coming your way!   Stars     XXX

Thanks ladies, what I've done is ask for Thursday and Friday off, so I can have a long four days rest over the weekend. I may get the train down to my hometown so mum can look after me :) However my boss already knew about the surgery so I had to tell him that's why I need the time off. He was understanding though. Do you think after another four days complete rest that it'll ease off a bit? I can't stand this much longer, and I can't take any more time off than this..... Because they know about it, it's already a little frowned upon if you know what I mean.

Thank you so much for your words of kindness lovely ladies, and where do I find the DIaries bit?

Definitely not a wimp! A few days off will help, but unless you take it nice and slow, they'll start to get sore again. How old are your class? Maybe try and do as much desk work as possible, no pointing at high up things etc, and ask the kids to help out lifting or something, because you've *cough* hurt your back. Try and take the pain meds regularly, it'll start to ease off eventually.

You'll find the diaries on the Home page :)

i totally understand the issue of your surgery being 'frowned upon' Sophie, but you really have to put YOU first right now. It's VERY possible the long weekend may help. A mothers touch too can help work her magic on you *wink wink* but if you're still in as much pain, please Sophie, stuff those that frown upon Breast Augmentation, if they're frowning now, they'll still be wearing the same frown after you've had time to take care of yourself, so don't worry about those small minded people - they really don't matter.

Can an you explain the 'pain' you're experiencing in more detail hun? It just helps us narrow down what the problem might be  Hug

Thank you so much for your words of kindness lovely ladies, and where do I find the DIaries bit?

Post by sophiefoster89 7th January 2015, 2:06 pm

hello again!

The only way I can describe it is as though the whole boob area just stings when I even lightly touch it. Like they are hyper sensitive to touch. And even trying to hold a folder against them when I'm walking is painful. They don't feel bruised anymore just super sore like when you're a kid and you graze your knee and it stings! I've felt them and they aren't hot... Will try and explain more later I have a class to teach xxx

THANKS !!!

Sunburn sensation. yes

This is VERY common Sophie. When you take the long weekend off use ice packs. If you don't have icepacks, but yourself a couple of bags of rice, or peas, or corn, anything that's going to mould over your boobs. The relief you'll feel from this is immense Sophie! I know you can't lob a bag of frozen peas down your bra, but it will help when you come home.

If you're also suffering with super sensitive nipple sensation this can be horrendous. But, again, there is help! Pop one of round make-up wipe pads in your bra covering your nipple, or some women prefer to use Breast feeding pads. It will act as a nice soft cushion for the nipple instead of it rubbing against the bra material which can feel really abrasive when nipples are so sensitive.

Hope this helps for you Sophie. Ice packs were my survival kit all the way through my recovery. You really be amazed at the relief you'll get from them. They're great for morning boob too. Not I did tuck the ice pads in my bra in the mornings. I looked shocking lol but when you're in that much discomfort you just don't care do you lol. Xx

PS. This is very important Sophie. Don't put any ice near your incisions. Just pop them over the tops of your boobs. Xx

Breast Uplift with Implant Pain 2 weeks on... Empty Re: Breast Uplift with Implant Pain 2 weeks on...

Post by Rach80 7th January 2015, 5:53 pm

Hi Sophie,

I'm 3 weeks 2 days after my full uplift and implant. I only went back to work on Monday and don't think I'd have been awake enough to go back any sooner let alone taking my comfort levels into account!!

The first two days back this week were awful, I hadn't really felt in actual pain before yesterday but the stabbing and shooting sensations I experienced really started to make me worry. Then I come on here, have a read and am instantly assured that it's all 'normal'!

I think the fact that it's all only happening in my left boob makes it all the more strange. I've got some pangs in the right, but nothing close to what's going on the other side!!

I was dreading today. To the point where I was going to book it as holiday, but when I woke up this morning I only had the usual discomfort and also noticed that I'd been laying quite flat during the night - wins number 1 & 2...

I dressed myself completely - including buttoning up my own jeans which, after Christmas, had been too much for me and putting on an over the head top - win 3!

I can feel myself walking quicker, typing faster, making more sense when I'm talking to people, hand/eye coordination all coming back...I finally think I'm (getting) back in the game haha. Obviously I type all this knowing I could be right back to that slow walking, one finger typing, jabbering, clumsy mess tomorrow. But the optimist in me thinks (hopes) I've turned a corner.

I hope you're feeling better lady. I couldn't have coped at all without my mum looking after me, so I'm sure by Monday you too will be resembling someone like your normal self! x

Hi rach80

Wow thank you so much for this, SO good to know other people are in the same boat as I'm sure you know! I think four days with mum will do me a lot of good, I'm just terrified I'll be in the same pain again next week and I can't take more time off work, I just need to relax and enjoy relaxing too, it's not everyday this happens and I need to take care of myself I know. With the lying on your back thing Rach did you say you woke up more comfortable when you lay on your back? Obviously this is what I am doing too but sometimes I slip to the side a little and wake up like that, I'm not properly on my side or anything but does it help with pain if you're more upright? I mean I already have a MOUNTAIN of pillows already but can add to my collection ;)

Cookie thank you also very much for this advice re the ice packs and cold peas etc. I remember reading somewhere that that would help but seem to have forgotten all about it. Seems like that would help a lot actually given that they actually feel very hot and stingy (but aren't hot to touch) if that makes any sense. OMG I just re-read your phrase 'sunburn sensation' that is SPOT ON!! That's exactly how it feels!! I will get mum to get the ice packs tomorrow, how long do you sit with them in your bra for? I have absolutely no sensation in my nipples currently so that's no issue.

Ahhh my goodness it's SO nice to talk about this stuff with lovely women who know what I'm on about!
Can't thank you both enough
Sophie. Xx

No idea when the sensation will settle 'for you' Sophie. It lasted a couple of weeks for me, some girls have it a couple of days, it's just differs from woman to woman because we're all made up differently and therefore all heal differently.

Icepacks -I just left the icepacks on for as long as I needed them. as long as they're nowhere near your incisions because the ice could constrict the blood vessels and slow the healing process down. But you're totally good to go if you just lay them over the tops of your boobs.

These are the icepacks I used HERE incase you're interested Sophie. X

Hiya Sophie,

Welcome to your long weekend of recovery! Take root on the sofa and watch all the rubbish to you can (in the time you're actually awake!).

So this morning I was the flattest I had been so far, still up at a bit of an angle but considering I was (what felt like) near upright for the first two weeks I would call it flat-ish. I think my body is doing what it knows it can do - does that make sense? In the night I adjust the v pillow one way, then another and by the morning have adopted some sort of comfy position.

A bit off topic... Have you had a shower yet? I don't know what it is but I just can't pluck up the courage to get them wet :(

Hi Rach,
No I haven't had a shower yet at all. I'm still bathing and it's horrible. You just never feel properly clean! I've been told not to shower yet but then I'm still only 2 and half weeks in. I am desperate to shower though when will I be able to?! I know what you mean about the bed thing. Somehow I wake up in a comfy position and am on my back, which I find bizarre as I thought I'd roll over in the night or something...

Almost home now on train only another hour and I'll be snuggled up in front of the fire and will try not to move for 4 days! Do you reckon I should literally stay as still as poss?? Like not even go out for short walks etc, will that help even more.... I do feel able to move about a bit but maybe I should literally stay put solid and stuck to the sofa literally non stop! Mum has ice packs at home so that's good!

I got the all clear to shower at my two week check when they removed the steri-strips. Only for the water to run over them - not for too long and no soap yet. Like I said, still psyching myself up for that. That being said, I can't wait to have the proper full use of my arms back and wash my hair and have a good old body scrub!

I personally think you need to do a lot of resting just to get yourself over the last few days. Not sure what part of the country you're in, but sounds like we're all going to get a bit battered with wind and rain over the weekend so you might not want to brave it anyway! Whatever you do make sure you enjoy every bit of being spoiled this weekend and definitely don't feel like you have to do anything you don't feel like. Of course, do log on here and let us know how you're getting on xx

Ps. Sorry I can't help on the sunburn/shivery feelings x

Hi Sophie,

How are you feeling now? Is ye mam looking after you?

I'm having an uplift in a few weeks, so although I am sorry to hear you are in pain, I am so glad you have posted this, as it is really helpful for all us pre-oppers.

Have you had a shower yet Rach?

Hiya drinkeroftea...YES they've had a wash and blow dry (tip from the nurse to save patting them dry with a towel).. can't say I enjoyed it though! I'm sure it'll get better every time.

I feel like I've gone a bit backwards today, but I did do quite a bit of driving over the weekend and this was my first time behind the wheel since the op (4 weeks ago today). I don't think I overdid it, but definitely some new movements for my left arm to get back used to. And that side has been giving me gyp all along so only to be expected I suppose!
