Why do boobs drop into place after a BA?

Hi i just wondered what exactly happens when your boobies drop after a BA? Is it the swelling going down, or do they actually drop? Why do they move downwards?

mmmm I wondered this too - as PS don't mention them dropping do they? Or fluffing? :dunno:

I found with mine which are overs, the skin was really tight around the implant so they looked really round. But As the skin stretches the roundness goes and they become boob shaped. Rather than looking like an implant shapped boob. So they drop down slightly. Still nice and pert though.

I think although not certain that when the implants put in either over or under the muscle its squashed in tight so over a few weeks the skin stretches and relaxes and the implant falls into the pocket, but apparently the real changes happen over a few months as new tissue forms around the implant.

they just give a more natural shape as they drop but still stay very pert x

i just assume it's the swelling going down and the skin slackening. the p.s must have to stick the implants under your armpits cos that's where they sit when you're on your back naturally, if they put it in right in the middle where they drop to the skin in the middle would be far too tight surely?cos the skin in between my boobs felt like it was gunna rip but now it's looser now the swelling is gone and they've dropped down. who knows haha i'll ask my surgeon when i go to see him wednesday if i remember

I agrre with C.B. And your muscles and tissue need to adjust to accomodate the implant. I have noticed many subtle changes over (check Ticker) 6/7 months. They become more squishy/movable/natural looking and feeling. xx

Yep it was once asked by a surgeon on another forum and he said most changes will happen later on as the new tissue starts to form around the implant, i think thats probably when you see changes in size.

Well Yes?? C.B. They measure an inch and a quarter more around bust..originally (6weeks) I measured 37inch now 38 1/4inch? The quarter has been in past month. I noticed at around 4 month mark, as they bounced when I ran up and down the stairs. Flash

Soo thought I would keep track :evil:

However, I wear same bra size, think they are just settled more and my incisions were on my breast and have only just moved into natural crease. Right, moved much quicker than left. So, I guess it is more the muscles, skin and tissue excepting the 'forign body' And everything has softened and relaxed into real live movable boobs. Dr Lurve

Oh!! Thanks C.B. :lol: It is just good to be able to share your experience, I had no clue when I had my op. Never even seen anyones boobs..or even knew whereabouts on my chest they should be Screwy

So, if I had found this before it would have been very welcome.

Now, I have have made lots of friends here and enjoy the 'cyber' chat. I am getting a whole new perspective on life..It's never too late for anything Cheerleader

Surgeons don't really use the term 'dropping and fluffing', I think it's more a term used on the forums.
