help for GP visit please
my breasts have always been asymmetrical, one is an A,the other a D cup.i went to see one of the female GPs at my surgery who is around my age hoping she would be more sympathetic to my plight but instead she made me feel worse. i showed her my breasts to which she said 'oo yes its not nice to have breasts like that is it' but then went on to say that i probably wouldnt get funding anyway because of the postcode lottery and then finally adding further insult, she weighed me, said i was in the obese category (i was a size 12 at the time) and said i wouldnt get referred unless my bmi was in between 20 and 25. i have now lost weight and have a bmi of 22 so making my chances of getting referred slightly greater but as a result of this weight loss, my breasts are noticeably different again. i had hoped that losing weight would balance them a bit but its just made it even more obvious.
i am going to try again (with another GP) but i really dont know where to start with this one. when i came from the last visit, i felt like crap but also felt annoyed with myself for not pleading my case more. Has anyone got any advice about what i need to say to make it clear to the GP that i am serious about getting this done?? i would even consider a breast reduction on the bigger one because its not about having bigger boobs for me,its about feeling normal and although i hate the thought of surgery, i cant see any other way of getting normal breasts

Re: help for GP visit please
Oh sweetheart c'mere
I'd firstly just see what this new GP might say lovely, it may be that they are more sympathetic and will refer you, but if you are told again about the probabilities of a post-code lottery, I'd explain that you'd like to take your chances. Explain that you've lost weight and are now within the BMI range expected and you've done everything you can on your part to get this referral and would just like an opportunity to see a surgeon and see how it goes from there.
Really fight your corner sweetheart. NHS funding for breast augmentation is pretty hard to get, but with severe asymmetry, you should at least have the opportunity to get that funding lovely, in my opinion and I hope you have success with this next appointment. xx

Re: help for GP visit please
thanks cookie, thats a great help, i just feel so down about it now and i feel that i have to at least try again. i really hoped that the weight loss would have helped matters but instead of enjoying my new figure, ive still got these stupid wonky boobs hanging over me! i wish i could squeeze some of the fat into the other one, why cant it be that easy?? lol!
im going to phone the surgery for an appointment tomorrow to get the ball rolling, i just hope that i can at least get a referral and if i cant get any further than that then i'll have to consider my options for private surgery

hi! yes, thank you for asking! i saw my GP but she said there's no chance of funding as they've cut right back, even on ladies with very big boobs that are causing them back pain and discomfort but she was lovely and gave me lots of tips about what to research if i decide to go private. although it wasnt the answer i'd hoped for, at least with private surgery i've got more control over what result I want so I'll just have to start my savings fund now and aim for either next year or the year after, depending on what options I can also get through finance.

Re: help for GP visit please
I'm sorry to hear that hun, the NHS route is such a postcode lottery and its a very unfair system. I'm glad you are remaining positive hun, you will get there, it is nicer privately in that you get to choose your size and with asymetrey sometimes the NHS only give one implant and you'll be able to have 2 so they feel the same. Theres lots of ways to get the extra cash with selling on ebay and at car boot sales. Good luck hun the time flies and you'll have your new boobies in no time.
Re: help for GP visit please
thanks hun, the tip about car boot sales and ebay is great, ive got loads of old dresses i hardly ever or never wore so whatever i get from selling them on can go in the fund! my bills have also gone down recently because i had to pay higher rates due to the time of year i moved into my house, not sure how they work that one out but they have decreased substantially so i'll prob look at what i was spending and save the difference every month as a starter point. plus i'll defo look to take advantage of any 0% finance rates as an add on if i dont quite save all the money by the time i plan to have the op. i'll get there somehow!! x
